Doubt it. Then 2 trailers will be totally insufficient.

You are such a visionary! Can I already buy a “recovery token” from your fine establishment pre delivery?

The old LR debate has and will always be there. So it is always tongue in cheek.

If you are offended, please let me know and I will delete them.

PS. To date, the bulk of the recoveries have been LC....

For me, I like the new Defender. And I think I might actually get one. The thing is, you'd ideally like to drive a Mclaren or 911 to your destination and then convert it into an old hardcore defender or cruiser when you get there. But obviously it's not possible. So hence, Im always searching for that "butter zone" where I can have the best of both worlds. Right now, with the 295KW on tap from the new Defender, it seems as buttery as it gets... (although I'll reserve full judgement until Ive measured the smile on my face upon completing Longtom pass etc...

    Interesting, with BMW engines, nogal.

He may well get a niche following for this vehicle. Not sure about over 2000 per month, though. That means 700 per month into Africa and Asia, according to his projections.

Could take the die-hard old Defender, and old design LC market, however.

I must say I'm not keen on it, but the looks will grow on me with time

What I *don't* like is the name. That is not a Defender, that is a Sandton special. Rather call it the "Protector" or something. That won't last five minutes without an electronic checkup

And how do you know that? Have you firsthand experience? Have you driven one, been in one?

in my 11 years owning 6 different LR's, I only had 4 electronic faults show, all could be reset without an issue. My 2016 has shown 9 faults in 3,years.....

    1. Jeep Grand Cherokee 3.0 CRD Overland - 914K
    2. Jeep Grand Cherokee 3.0 CRD Summit - 956K
    3. Toyota Prado 3.0 TX - 816K
    4. Toyota Prado 3.0 VX - 928K
    5. Toyota Prado 3.0 VX-L - 965k

    8. Toyota FJ Cruiser - 626K
    9. Toyota Land Cruiser 200 GX-R 4.5 V8 D4D -991K
    10. Toyota Land Cruiser 76 Station Wagon 4.5 V8 D4D - 724K (questionable onroad comfort)
    11. Toyota Land Cruiser 79 D/Cab 4.5 V8 D4D Standard - 707K (questionable onroad comfort)
    12. Toyota Land Cruiser 79 D/Cab 4.5 V8 D4D NAMIB - 875K
    13. Land Rover Discovery 5 S - 965K
    14. Mitsubishi Pajero 3.2 DI-D 5 Door - 765K
    15. Volvo XC90 T5 R Design AWD - 924K
    16. Volvo XC90 D5 R Design AWD - 969K

All pricing as per "New Car Deals" website as of today. Some of the Toyota deals can be bettered if you shop around.

A new Defender 110 base model will start at 930K, and if you spec it up to the equivalent of an SE model then it will cost around 1.1 to 1.5 million

I say again, excessive pricing. There are 4 or 5 in my 16 above that are at least equal to the new Defender in tech and off road capabilities.

I like the new Defender, but JLR are pricing their latest offering out of the market. I would be surprised if they sell an average of 3000 units per month globally for their first 2 years of sales.

    Time will tell I suppose.
    My picks - in red.

But then only after the 2,8 Prado Diesel arrives.

I have just come back from Gabon on a project where Land Cruisers are the workhorses, carrying supplies, building materials, water tanks from Libreville into the heart of the jungles in Parcs Gabon – they also act as transfers for guests from the camps. There is no infrastructure and these vehicles are really put through their paces. Then a small farm with a Defender 110 that is everything, from collecting lambs stuck in the mud, farming implements to carrying staff. In both cases the back is sprayed out with water and its ready to tackle the next onslaught.

I will wait to see pictures of the new ‘Defender’ performing these type of tasks in that lovely interior.

I agree, all this new tech will fail... Whose idea was it to use rubber filled with air for wheels🤔! My goodness a sharp stick and whooos💨 you need to stop, never had that problem with our wood and steel wheels, ha! And an "engine", do you realise you need to go and buy fuel!!! My 8 oxen fill up for free, right where we stop at night, ha!! I don't think this new "tech" will ever work, never mind catch on!!

TLDR: I LOVE IT, can't afford it, but love it.

I just sometimes cannot help to wonder how many of these High Tech Wizards can fix their own High Tech Wagons. So many threads lately about High Tech Wizards that cannot even fix low tech carburetor engines. I mean what is more basic form of fueling than a carb.
Old school engines only had 5 to 6 wires.

One for the ignition coil, one for the alternator field circuit, one to activate starter solenoid, one for temp, one for oil pressure and if a fancy model one for electric choke. Today`s High Tech boytjies cannot sort this out so I doubt these claims of high tech fixing in the bundus.

Even with ODB readers most does not know a spark plug from a radiator.
It is not what you buy its what you build.
