Yes, who knew a year ago what was ahead of us, in terms of safety, health, mental health etc.

Virtually everyone now knows someone who has lost a loved one to the 'Rona, and we in South Africa still do not have a coherent vaccination plan, or roadmap out of the state of disaster.

In spite of this, I see on a daily basis people striving to do better for themselves and their families, always scheming to improve, and still with a smile on their face.

It makes me believe that, irrespective of setbacks, it can and will be another great day.

The Vrystaater beat me to it

Today, I start on a new journey, probably one of the most important ones in my professional life.

    Something new

I will be lecturing at a CPD College

Time to give back to an industry that has been both challenging and extremely rewarding

I hope to be able to make implicit knowledge explicit.

Its going to be another great day (for me, not sure about those who have to listen to me)

    Cheers

    Gooood MORNING!!!!!

This morning I "splashed on my clothes as I spilled out of bed" - and it seems I wasn't the only one!

Looking forward to a rustige day next to my pot-still. It was manufactured in 1896.

125 Years ago some toppie and his son took some copper sheeting and hammered together a pot-still. It was on commission for the Government, so the embossed their country's crest on it and under the crest they engraved "Eigendom der ZAR". But they took so much pride in their work that they also engraved their name on it - "Herman Nel en Zoon". To this day it does what it was meant to do perfectly. It doesn't leak, it doesn't fall apart at the seams.

Which set me thinking about that which we do, that which we produce, longevity and legacies.

If we can transplant that amount of pride, that amount of quality and that amount of attention to detail into our normal day, into our everyday way of life - imagine what a greaterer world we'll be building.

    Have a good one guys.

It is Saturday! The foundation for a great weekend starts now.

    Thank you every one.

Swambo and I stole two nights away at Dinokeng and came back yesterday.

Today is a great day! It is a day to celebrate and have fun. Our daughter was born on our 9th anniversary so it is always difficult to celebrate both. This year we went away for our anniversary and today we will celebrate Amber's 24th birthday. I'm not sure how she can be 24 because I still feel 25!

Looking forward to every minute of this new day!

Sean let us know how your lecture went yesterday. I am convinced it was great.

    Cheers guys.

Thanks, it went well (at least I think it did) and I managed to bring additional context and material to the session. I have also just emailed my notes on the 2 modules covered yesterday along with diagrams further illustrating the key concepts of the material covered.

After hail and heavy rain yesterday, I woke to a world washed clean, but covered in leaves and twigs knocked from the trees.

A quick tidy up and it is off to lunch with friends, so another great day awaits.
