    Morning all

    Wonderful Wednesday ahead!

No matter what your demons might be, as Sean says, talk and get help.

The change can, and usually is, remarkable, and will allow you to move forward with your life without the dark shadows in your mind.

There is always help, and positive things ahead, one just needs to find them.

    Have a magic day, everybody.

    Goooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooood Morning

Its not easy for me to type this. I am not an easy person to get along with. I am a Gypsy, only partially domesticated, my wanderlust and hunger for change is like an addiction. I am self-reliant and so, the company of others is not always sought, preferring solitude in places of solitude, away from the constraints and protocols of ''normal'' life. Its a family trait, bachelor/ette-ism and wandering.

The First Wife has endured this since 1984. She has stood by me through meteoric rises and spectacular crash and burns and yet here she is. It is only in recent years that I have truly come to love her. And yet, despite her possibly knowing this, here she is. There is hardly a day that now goes by where I dont feel grateful for having her in my life and for what she does for me and my off-spring, for the person she actually is. Yesterday, I thought that if something should happen to me, she wouldnt know how I feel, truly feel, so I told her how much she means to me.

She in turn told me that everyday she expects today to be the day I ''up sticks'' and leave. This has been her constant fear (although I suspect she would often be better off if I did). We often get or have things we dont deserve. I dont feel I deserve having her in my life yet here she is.

Guys, tell them what they truly mean to you.

    Keep it greaterer

    Cheers

    Gooood Morning everyone!

Sean, congratulations on finally allowing yourself to be vulnerable to another person.

Truly telling someone how you feel leaves you open for hurt, but is the most liberating thing ever, being able to demolish the emotional walls we all erect around ourselves, finally allows you to fully experience other people and the joys that brings.

I came from a "stand offish" family background, and made a conscious decision to be more open and physically affectionate with those in my life.

At times, it has had it's negatives, but far outweighed by the positive.

Enjoy the new found freedom, Boet.

It is a great day, and we will make it greaterer.

This is one of the most beautiful things I have read in a long time. I applaud your courage in speaking up. I have a feeling both of you are going to flourish in the freedom this single conversation brought to your marriage.

    Default A Toast

On my way to work this morning, this song came up on my playlist.
It is probably, the single most beautiful song I have heard, not only the lyrics, but the way it is presented by Nazareth.

I have not heard it in years, and it's impact on me this morning, reminded me to maybe go back and check all my old rock albums. There are some truly great songs amongst them.

    Have a rocking Friday guys!!!

    Love hurts, love scars
    Love wounds and marks
    Any heart
    Not tough or strong enough
To take a lot of pain, take a lot of pain
    Love is like a cloud
    Holds a lot of rain
    Love hurts
    Ooh, ooh love hurts

I'm young, I know, but even so
I know a thing or two
    I learned from you
I really learned a lot, really learned a lot
    Love is like a flame
It burns you when it's hot
    Love hurts
    Ooh, ooh love hurts

    Some fools think of happiness
    Blissfulness, togetherness
Some fools fool themselves, I guess
    They're not foolin' me

    I know it isn't true
    I know it isn't true
    Love is just a lie
    Made to make you blue
    Love hurts
    Ooh, ooh love hurts
    Ooh, ooh love hurts

    I know it isn't true
    I know it isn't true
    Love is just a lie
    Made to make you blue
    Love hurts
    Ooh, ooh love hurts

Andrew, I guess you like music. Have you ever listened to this song. The words are just awesome!

Cat's in the Cradle - song by Harry Chapin
    Lyrics

My child arrived just the other day
He came to the world in the usual way
But there were planes to catch, and bills to pay
He learned to walk while I was away
And he was talking 'fore I knew it, and as he grew
He'd say "I'm gonna be like you, dad"
"You know I'm gonna be like you"

And the cat's in the cradle and the silver spoon
Little boy blue and the man in the moon
"When you coming home, dad?" "I don't know when"
    But we'll get together then
You know we'll have a good time then

My son turned ten just the other day
He said, thanks for the ball, dad, come on let's play
Can you teach me to throw, I said-a, not today
I got a lot to do, he said, that's okay
And he, he walked away, but his smile never dimmed
It said, I'm gonna be like him, yeah
You know I'm gonna be like him

And the cat's in the cradle and the silver spoon
Little boy blue and the man in the moon
"When you coming home, dad?" "I don't know when"
    But we'll get together then
You know we'll have a good time then

Well, he came from college just the other day
So much like a man I just had to say
Son, I'm proud of you, can you sit for a while?
He shook his head, and they said with a smile
What I'd really like, dad, is to borrow the car keys
See you later, can I have them please?

And the cat's in the cradle and the silver spoon
Little boy blue and the man in the moon
"When you coming home, son?" "I don't know when"
But we'll get together then, dad
You know we'll have a good time then

I've long since retired, my son's moved away
I called him up just the other day
I said, I'd like to see you if you don't mind
He said, I'd love to, dad, if I can find the time
You see, my new job's a hassle, and the kids have the flu
But it's sure nice talking to you, dad
It's been sure nice talking to you
And as I hung up the phone, it occurred to me
He'd grown up just like me

My boy was just like me
And the cat's in the cradle and the silver spoon
Little boy blue and the man in the moon
"When you coming home, son?" "I don't know when"
But we'll get together then, dad
We're gonna have a good time then.

Yes, the sun is already up at 6.42 am today - getting earlier, all is good.

Reading this was quite profound and emotional to me as I have been thinking a lot of moving through the phases of life lately, kids growing up, setting off on their own paths and how well we prepared them by the time not spend, but INVESTED, in them. And letting them go.

Very emotional time indeed. It is almost August. My son was born nearly 18 years ago; last night when I paged through his final matric exam time table, a ton of stuff hit me. Time can be our friend or our enemy. Have I taught and shown him enough? Did I do it right?

I will leave this silly quote: don't count the days, make the days count.

Woooo Hoooo, welcome to the second half!

In 2019, who wood a thunk what has happened in the last year and a half?

In spite of the challenges, most of us are still here and fighting to move forward.

That indomitable spirit is what leads to greaterer things.

    Have a wonderful weekend, everyone.

    Its the 1st of August.

The angle of the sun has changed, casting a subdued and dappled light across the room. Its something I follow every morning as I dont want to miss the uniqueness of each day. I hope to capture that uniqueness, after all, this day wont present itself again, ever.

I agree with all of your sentiments but we are past the halfway mark already 1 July.

These past 7 months have been as tough as nails. Although we were not directly influenced by the looting this domino is trying hard to stand while others are falling on us.

These 5 months will have to be much better than the 7 previous ones.
