Thank you all for the help.

Ek is baie teleurgesteld in Goch & Cooper.

I've got another garage that can help, but they also doesn't specialize in carbs. I'll talk to you as well Ockert. (PM you )

Ek is old school - so side draughts is cool !!

    Sorry missed some info:

Rowland carries a big range of carb kits , jets , ram tubes and filters.

He also does the soft mount adapters - it is true that the carbs form bubbles etc.

Give him a call - you can tell him the pain in the @ss from Jozi ( AC ) recommended him.

He runs a workshop if you need him to do the work.

    Cheers

Thanks Ockert. He had a look at the engine and had lots of sound advice and improved the starting and running.

Things went well, untill this morning. At the first hill, the carbs started to overfuel and flooded and plugs started to misfire.

I got an offer by someone that came to look at is ( R42 000 ).

I also called uncle Rowland. (Ockert pointed it out that the jepie has a Rowland intake manifold.) Rowland said that he could sort this out and that he has all the jets and emultion tubes and stuff neede. Price would be R2500 - R3500 to sort this out.

The carbs flood when going uphill, but at one stage it shooted forward like a bullet and made the mud terrains scream for a few seconds........there is lots of power here and this jepie would be awesome in the sand when sorted.

Sterkte Lohan, hoop jy kry hom binnekort reg. Is hy al deur die toets?

Jepie is at Rowlands. They replaced the rubbers between carbs and manifold with proper ones. That would privent lots of vibration on the carbs.

And there were no bolts on the bottom of the manifold, so it could possibly suck air in there. That is now sorted.

The carbs got a sevice kit and he said that the float levels had wrong parts in. Maybe from a Delorto carburettor, but he fitted the correct parts now. It ran well, not road tested yet, but then the distributor broke. They will replace that today and road test and let me know. I hope and believe everything will be sorted.

Swerkater, sounds great. Did the distributor CAP broke (only held in place by 2 screws)? When will you be able to collect and test drive it?

I'm not sure. And not sure when I can collect. I would have to take half a days leave this week.

Not distributor cap, but "module" broke and were replaced. Spacers fitted between carbs and intake. New gaskets were made.

New float levels and a few new jets. Intake manifold also had a few bolts missing. And skimming on manifold was done.

Still the same... made no difference and it's not right at all. R10 000 down the drain and counting.

I'm going to see if the dealer is willing to give me my money back. He basically lost a month and a lot was sorted out, and got a new battery.
