Default Fitting Nissan 2.8 petrol to Late Series II gearbox

Got a late Series II (i think), permanent 4x4, with the large rear diff. Gearbox look similar to Series 2a, but only has 2 levers.

Need an adaptor plate for Nissan 2.8 Petrol engine. It had a RB28 in, block looks the same but bolt holes are all 5mm out.

Who is best suited to check and partial recon Series II box in KZN ?Click image for larger version.

Just drill out the bolt holes?

Why are you removing the RD28, it's a bloody nice engine?

    Gilo Engineering makes adapters.

Only series landy which was ever permanent 4x4, was the stage 1 V8 if memory does not fail. This is a normal series box with 4x4 engaged when you push the short lever in high range or select low range with the long lever.

I agree with Koos. Standard series box.

If I was doing this conversion, I'd use a Safari box and transfer case which means a standard bellhousing, standard clutch, standard flywheel, and its MUCH stronger and is also offset for RHS front and rear propshafts............

    But that's just me.

I'm not sure they want to drill those holes out.

The thing is, i dont know which position is correct, because the starter can then be 5mm out on the ring gear, if i assume the bottom holes are correct.

Starter mounts to the gearbox on the 2 holes that does not get drilled. just allign the bottom holes as you have the plate in the last pic and drill out the top holes. Don't go to big on the drillbit though, just enough to clear the bolts cleanly.

Edit. I see Reenen posted the box with the markings, that is all you need to do

That RD28 with a turbo will use much less fuel and it is BIG fun.
