Default Disco 3 Post-EGR blanking cleanup recommendations

    Hello

I have done the EGR blanking and having seen the ‘cake’ build up inside the pipes, air inlets, it’s been bothering me. The fact that it’s there can not be good for the engine and it’s efficiency?

Are there any ‘cleanup’ actions required or will the ‘cake’ layer clean itself up over time?

Below pic with arrows showing where the major black cake layer is found, from what I could see visually without removing anything else. I should have taken pics when the Ybox was removed during EGR blanking job.

Did you not remove the EGR pipes? Did you remove the Throttle flap? Clean the MAP sensor

Yes, EGR is blanked and pipes are removed as you can see in the pic(sorry, this a before pic). MAP sensor cleaned and throttle valve removed.
Perhaps I should have taken a pic of the inside to the tappet covers, I think this is what it’s called. The body where the air is sucked into as I have tried to show in the pic.

Hi Schyffs , the pipes are still in place , it is not removed in your pic.
I went the 2SO route , and my engine stays clean.

Apologies, the pic was the before shot. All those recommendations have been done.

Did you do any additional cleaning of the EGR and the intakes etc, besides the Ybox and intercooler pipe box to remove the black cake layers?

Must you clean the build before using 2SO?

What do you mean by the 'build'?

I’m not the expert, so was asking the basic question myself.
From what I found when doing the EGR blanking, the only place that I could clean was the Ybox and the MAP sensor that is fitted in the same box.

All the posts I read about this topic of 2SO, not much is mentioned about doing any excessive carbon cleaning. But I suppose doing as much cleaning where you can get into without dismantling the engine is about all that can be done.

Thanks that is the clarity I required....not dismantling the entire engine which as I understood it, its not required.

Default Disco 3 Post-EGR blanking cleanup recommendations

The reason for my original post and question is because I have come across websites of specialists that do engine carbon cleaning. They all have different methods but the end result is the same.

So, is it recommended to do a carbon clean up on the TDV6 since it was exposed to EGR gasses? Has anyone done this on their TDV6?
