Not really using any form of logic when approaching problems this government of ours. Try to take the peoples money and invest in "empty pits" with no realistic returns ever being possible....

So how many people are writing resignation letters now just to get their pension monies out. It happens every time when they mention something like this.

    NO!!!
    Not empty pits!
FULL wallets of re-allocated or re-distributed cash by whatever means.
It is all about the frog in the ever hotter water .....

I am now starting to withdraw the MAX permissible from my living annuities (read: Pension funds, Retirement annuities) - as far as I know they are ALL vulnerable to this asset / investment prescription issue.
My opinion - get as much as you can in the short term OUT of government hands and as much as possible into your own and preferably offshore or Rand hedge investments.

In my opinion it is all going one way here from now going forward.

Eish, I SO HOPE that I am wrong ....

As I said above - MY OPINION - Not advice, OK.

Technically, if you had a trusted goverment, it is a much better Idea than an IMF bailout. If you think of there austerity terms Greece had to go through to get a bail out. But then again your average Greek claims a state pension anyway.

Who knows, maybe goverment can offer better guaranteed returns/ growth on your pension funds than your RA at them moment, because any RA with whoever, has had dismal growth over the past five year with very high fees on to of that.

Expenses must be cut. Budget must be in balance and we must start paying existing debts. If they borrow pension monies expenses go up as there is money to spend. If money is borrowed from outside they can put pressure to cut. Politically MAYBE they can do the cuts then. Government and municipal salary cuts, reduce public sector employees, reduce corruption, buy local, stop paying BBEEE premiums, scrap minimum wage, chase out those who claim fraudulent social grants, give grant only if some work is done (there is plenty to do)...

Just sent this to my FA. He reckons the finance houses first want to see how extreme the real amendments are. I told him I'm willing to discuss taking the tax hiding so that I can get a mill or 2 offshore.

My plan started before 1999. Took nearly 3 years but I did get 19% tax directive. That worked. Would the same work today I have no idea.

One of a few political parties in the world that will tell you to your face that they will screw you and they still manage to be re-elected. The mind boggles.
