Uiters tragies. Ek sien niks in die berig van plundery nie, dink jy dit was bloot 'n gewelddadige rooftog of was hy dalk spesifiek geteiken? Nóg 'n familie verpletter... Mag die skuldiges spoedig aangekeer word!

Condolences to friends and family, from my understanding of the article he died by strangulation, which is a very horrible and personal way to kill someone.

I hope some understanding and peace come to the family friends and community.

Another sad part is that The Deceased was part of a family business, Solomons Hardware.

Those who know Bethlehem will know this business is maybe more than 50 years old - family run.

The Oom handed reins over to Gerard a few years back, and G has expanded it by MILES, its now on a great new property, theres a coffee shop and its just SUCH a nice business. Friendly employees, etc etc.

So........yes, that business has also suddenly had this HUGE loss.

I actually stopped there before 8 this morning to just "show my face" and offer our deepest condolences........but I just could'nt get out of my car and walk into that sadness. I'll try and do it later.

Peter, please, this is not personal.

This is what gets my goat. It is not the world we live in. It is the country we live in. And none of the other SADC countries have these problems. Not even DRC, Angola, Zim. And the rest are all peaceful countries.

I don't want to politicize the thread, but I strongly hate this regime.

While browsing YouTube a while ago I came across a video on Australian immigration. One part showed a young professional Black couple from SA who recently moved there after the husband got shot in KZN during a robbery (he made a full recovery). They are the demographic you would expect to be the most optimistic in the new SA; educated, good jobs, a government in their favour. The wife said there is an unseen sickness over SA; the same aura of hatred and brutality that persisted during colonialism and Apartheid continues today, perhaps even more intense. I know what it is. It's misdirected masculinity. What does it mean to be a real man to our majority? The hero is not the self-made man who gives back more to society than what he gets; the hero is the windbag that spews hatred and spreads false materialistic hope (Malema, Mngxitama, Mokoba, Lomola, etc, etc). The savage frenzy that surround murder and rape in this country has become a whole subculture; the dominance over a victim is perceived as a victory. It's because there is nothing to fear; no death penalty, no castration, good conditions in jail should they get convicted. As role models for the young men of this country, the ANC government is a failed, sick organization. The concept of responsibility should be hammered into our youth and that must start at home even if home is an orphanage or a shack with a single guardian. Oh, and how do we stop teenage/unwanted pregnancies...?

    Maybe he choked?
Before you criticize someone, you should walk a mile in their shoes.

That way, when you criticize them, you're a mile away and you have their shoes.

Karol........NO idea whats going on here. Lots of speculation - klein dorpie syndrome, you know the story.

My heart bleeds for that family, having to cope with this "uncertainty" too, all of a sudden.

I sure the autopsy results will give the family the closure it needs to start the healing process, it's very possible he could have choked on something, grabbing his own throat which might have left the initial evidence of strangling.
