They better do their homework as it seems that Mercedes will be dropping the X Class due to dismal sales globally...

Do you think the merc is dismal or was just priced badly?

I have no pony in this race, but to me they were not correctly priced given the alternatives in this market?

Sorry it seems I may be mistaken. The Mercedes tie up seems to be a journalist who got carried away with the Ford VW electric car tie up which has an MEB platform. After the interest I researched some more and the one source seems to have got it wrong.

Beurvoort can relax. I can also set his mind at ease as the research has brought to light that the VW will be developed independently of the Ford to ensure it is more distinctive than the MB Navara pairing. It seems VW does not want to have the same problems MB has had. An example

While initial speculation suggested Volkswagen would receive an Amarok successor based on the Ford Ranger, Schafer said that is a bit more complicated than it seems. As he explained, in that scenario, Volkswagen would receive the Ranger platform and then have to create a uniquely styled truck that looks “totally different” from Ford’s version. He also noted the mid-size truck segment is “super-competitive” so Ford’s “not going to throw, like, an olive branch at us and give us their Ranger or whatever else.”

I do agree on the v6 Amarok 8 speed and its smoothness. If I have lived in a City and needed a double cab it would have been the Amarok v6.
The Ranger 6 speed automatic gearbox is a ZF design, manufactured by Ford under licence.
Unlike the ZF gearbox in the Amarok, which is manufactured by ZF.
