yep, even on the Puma they were just hanging around. I cabled-tied all together in one spot, out of the way.

I haven't seen them being mounted on a bracket. Cableties should be fine.

Doesnít bother me at all but I bought the 90 for exactly this reason: to fiddle.

Had a bracket bent to install under the glove box to leave space for the amp. Turned out great, the arm rest is at a much better hight.

Installed 6Ēx9Ē behind the jump seats in a he back.

    Sounds good.

    So I need some advice:

Seems my Cross Rod (9)and Track rod (7) has taken a beating.

    Difficult to fix?
    Is it pricey?
    Where?

Ok so my guys have confirmed the Track Rod is definitely deformed. I can get a ORM set (track and cross) complete including track rod ends from the UK @ R2800 delivered at my door.

    Is that the right price?

If I am understanding you correctly you want to replace everything, not just the bent rods?

What is your reasoning for doing this? Is it because the rods are seized in place? If so, there is a way to get them loose.

Heat up the rod-ends with a blowtorch and then pour oil into the slits of the rod-ends. Repeat the process a couple of times on each end.

Try not to set your Landy on fire - keep a fire extinguisher close-by.

After each heating cycle, give the rod-end a good couple of whacks with a hammer. Then use a bobbejaanspanner and see if you can break the seized thread loose.

It took me around an hour to get the whole mess un-seized. I had to do it in order to get wheel alignment done. Perhaps you can follow the same procedure and get an engineering shop to straighten your existing rods. I think it would cost much less than to have new ones ordered.

Zapiture, at the beginning of 2018 my 110 Td5 Double Cab's "book value" was R80k. I wrote to my insurer (Western Insurance) explaining the situation with Defenders and included a couple of ads from Gumtree, cars.co.za and Autotrader to prove my point. I was told to go to an accredited Land Rover dealer and get a quote (on their letterhead) stating what they would sell it for if it was on their floor. They valued the vehicle at R160K and the extras at R80K (replacement value). It was insured at that value.

Did they allow adding cover for the full R80k worth of extras, ie the vehicle is insured for R240k?

Score, did they gouge you on the premuim though, for the uprated vehicle value?
Still not such a high value and not high theft risk either.

Hi Albert, yes, Iíve taken the view if I can, I replace everything I work on with new and if possible upgraded version. That way I hope to gradually restore to as close to new as is practical.
