Ok, so Iíd like to put new threads on. I have a new set of Coopers 17Ē but canít find 165.1 PCS 5 stud rims so that seems to be a dead end.

Iím leaning towards 285/75/16Ē after seeing and reading some suggestions on the net. Some advise?

285s will make your 90 feel very pap, unless you change the gear ratios.

the biggest I would go with is 265/75 if you want wider tyres, or 235/85 or 255/85 if you want a bit more sidewall/ground clearance.

personally, I prefer skinnier & taller tyres because it allows you a bit more flexibility wrt your lines when driving trails.

Depends on your application for the vehicle. 285 has made a big difference for offroad use on my 110. For overlanding 235s.

I think they are going to rub. I experienced rubbing after putting on 265/75/R16 and had to adjust the turning circle.

Even the 2.8? It sure goes like a bat out of hell. Iím suspicious that it may be fiddled with. How would one know?

Iím still figuring out what the plan is. Initially I thought that most of my overlanding will be done with my Discovery. The 2.8 is just a blast as a toy. Then, I still have the 3.8 Paj. Thought of fixing it to sell but the guys have done such a super job I think I must keep that too. Space is a slight problem though.

So today I had the rear step redone with some heavy duty Aluminum Vastap that I had laser cut.

Had to first prep the step. It had some thick adhesive on. Only way was a grinder and flapdisk:

Then bonded it with some Sika:

I would have offered that you take mine for a spin in order to compare, but my exhaust is in pretty bad shape and I suspect it is way down on power at the moment. It might not be a good vehicle to use as a benchmark.
