Today I drove behind my D90 to take the Disco 4 for its service. I noticed the rear seems to lean slightly left.

There seems to be a 15mm difference. I inspected the suspension but donít see any issues. Any ideas?

    Yes, mine was the same.

The left spring was compressed by around that amount.

I suspect the combination of the extra petrol tank with the surface profile of tar roads loads the left spring.

Thanks Albert for replying but I donít think so or rather it does not make sense.

My guys measured the two coils and they are identical: 300mm

Are they exactly the same? Can one swop them over?

    Is it a big job?

The replacement set that I had installed was the same length and it solved the problem.

Not such a big job but it can be tricky to get the springs out.

You either need to create a cross-axle so that the one wheel drops and the spring is completely uncompressed. Or you can use a high lift Jack to Jack the body up, away from the wheel.

On my D1 300 tdi - OK so not same vehicle - but close

The drivers side front spring was a good 10 mm longer when compared to the passenger side - this was out of the vehicle on the floor

I bought these from LR Centurion - so original I assume

    This was 2 years ago

Freakishly frustrating when you loose half a day just when you can least afford it.

So some bright combustible fluids technician (aka pomp joggie) decides to fill my 2.8ís tank with diesel.

Fortunately for me I notice the mistake so I could drain the stuff before I started it. Not a easy job on a Defender. Had I not have a auxiliary pump for my second tank this would be almost completely impossible.

Is there an easy way to do this?

Surely there must be a drain point at a low point in the system or disconnect the fuel line to the engine(or just after the fuel pump if not in the tank) and use the fuel pump to drain the tank.

Apparently not. The Workshop Manual recommends dropping the fuel tank if it needs to be cleaned.

I think this is a nice idea. Any reason this is not recommended?:

I have one of those from stone accessories here on the forum. Works well for keeping small things, or makes a nice spot for a winch cut out switch.
