Default Jimny Shock Upgrade Advice Needed

    Hi Guys,

I've got a standard 2016 Jimny. I'm going to install AirLifters at the rear soon. I'm interested in upgrading the shocks, to improve off-road performance and ride quality, however the Jimny is my daily driver, and i dont want to make the ride too hard as it spends 90% of its time unloaded on tar. Looking for something that improves off-road performance but with limited effects on the on-road experience. So HD shocks probably too hectic i presume. Anyone have any suggestions, or should i rather just stick with stock.

Looking at Grabiel HDPs. Seems to be the best combo of price and performance.

Gabriel Safari HDPs work best on a Jimny and buying them does not break the bank either.

I have a full Iron Man setup. I enjoy a 50mm lift, comfortable ride on gravel and canít wipe the smile off my wife when everyone else complain how bad the road was doing a trip together, and I did not experience their uncomfort.

Really worth the bucks I spent 3 years ago.

Default Jimny Shock Upgrade Advice Needed

Unless you are going to load some weight to your Jimny; the Iron Man rides a bit on the hard side.

Lol, eish, can only imagine how leka that must be

An iron man kit currently going for R17k, so no matter how smooth it makes the ride, my motjie will not be smiling

Unfortunately out of my reach at the moment lol. My shocks currently on the edge of the 4 year mark, so i will probably need to change them, and the Gabriel HDP sounding like the best bang for buck. I think the gabriel and Airlifter combo should be a decent upgrade for my purposes for the meantime.

Never experienced that. I think you might be confusing it with a Tough Dog. Spring rates are different.

I have HDP. Working great. Also adding Des Sol coils very soon. 50mm lift with progressive medium coil.

Jip, my setup, bought the complete kit in one go, little bit harder on the road, nothing that you won't get used to.

Thats strange. I've heard the exact opposite. Which is that the Gabriel HDP fits the standard jimny, and has the ability to also fit a lifted jimny due to the longer than standard size of the shock... So my plan was to get the HDPs when my shocks go, then afterwards add 40mm lift kit, and use the same HDP shocks after the lift.

Please share and expand on your statement as gabriel specifically created them for std jimny from my understanding. Only advantage is they also work when you have 40mm lift becuase they have longer travel.

Let me go find my tech details as i pretty much made a whole investigation into them.

Frankly never heard about your statement so would live to hear the facts supporting your statement.

I have only had them with a 40mm lift spacer. I never fitted the shock extention.
