Default Sand free ground sheets - Yes/No?

I'm in the market for a new ground sheet.
Is it worth spending the money on these so-called "sand free ground sheets"?
Has anyone got one and can comment on real world experience?
I've only ever seen them demonstrated at shows. The concept looks good but do they actually work?

Not sure what that is? We use sommer shade nets, works excellent.

Also interested - how are they actually different from a "regular" ground sheet?

Apparently sand/dirt/dust falls through the mat and does not collect on top

I've watched a video with Ronnie Dahl in Aussie who swears by them. But there must be more to it than bigger holes, otherwise sand can come back up, needs to be a one way valve type arrangement.

Actually smaller holes. Appears to be multi-layered.

    Unfortunately a bit small

Used one in one Richtersveld sand in 2011, definitely works, but it's a bit small for the caravan.

I have one of the ODW miracle sand free mats - use it at the beach, but too small for camping where I'd want to use it in the gazebo as a groundsheet. Works very well for sand I must say.

This is a copy of the cgear mat, which ODW used to stock. See here https://www.cgear-sandfree.com/

They were originally developed for helicopter landings in sandy areas.

Saw at the last Beeld show (not called that anymore) that someone is producing them in bigger sizes in South Africa now. The pricing is steep (I'm using normal Tentco groundsheets for camping, but I'm not camping on the beach or very sandy conditions), but they definitely work well (at least the copy version that I have does)! See here https://www.cgear.co.za/multimat/

Those mats are remarkable, it's like a hitech outdoors carpet. Must be nice having a big one, make a campsite great fun and easy to manage.
