We are currently doing 3 month trip in Africa with 3 kids aged 10,8 and 5 - and we are having the time of our lives! We’ve done Botswana, Zambia, Ruaha etc and currently on our way to Zanzibar. We plan to end trip in Gonarezhou. Now we are not sure if we should include Tarangire and or Serengeti - originally we said no but feels like we are close now. We would like to spend time in Malawi as well - we still have 6 wks left in the trip.
Tarangire is one of the finest parks in Tanzania. And the Serengeti is a once in a life time trip. Also the Ruaha is fabulous too.
You may well regret it if you didn’t visit some of the fabulous Tanzanian parks.

And Udzungwa NP for endemic birds and monkeys. Fabulous mountain park.
And the Selous Game Reserve before it gets ruined by the dam project.
And the wonderful Lake Tanganyika: Gombe Stream NP and the chimpanzees. The wonderful Lakeshore Lodge at Kipili on Lake Tanganyika - snorkelling and cichlids.
And the remote Katavi NP.
Just a short list. So much to do and see...

Hi all
Thanks so much for advice - we did Ruaha and Udzwunga and loved it. We are leaving Dar on Friday and need to make decision on seregenti or not.
Few questions or if you can direct me to trip reports I can look
1. We are driving a Prado and alustar trailer - I’ve read that the road is terribly corrugated to Serengeti - will it be do able with a trailer?
2. Should we camp in Ngorogoro - we’ve been told its better to jump on safari vehicle and camp outside (and cheaper!)
3. Keen to sleep at Lobo in Serengeti - can we just do Serengeti or do we need to go via Ngorogoro to access?
We will be making our way down to Malawi and then Gonarezhou before we have to be back at work in the 16th Sept
Thanks all
There is a lot on this forum about the famous Ngorongoro crater and the Serengeti.
Lobo can only be accessed via the Ngorongoro Crater Conservation Area when coming from the east.
Safari njema.
Thank you. We had a fantastic time in the crater as well as Serengeti - sooo glad we did it! Did not manage to go to Lobo - time and budget did not allow. We will be making our way to Lakeshore Lodge - will put Ghombe on bucketlist for next time.
