    Default Pajero 3.8 V6

    Hi Everyone

Does anybody have any info regarding this Pajero?

I spoke to the salesperson at Herman Nel motors as well.

I'm based down in the Strand(WC). Have been shopping around for a 3.8 Gen 4 with low mileage. Found this one, but I'm not the type of person to buy a car sight unseen......

    https://www.autotrader.co.za/car-for...o/3.8/25096585

Not sure if the link works....

    Any info would be appreciated.

    Regards

I'm in Pretoria, but heading to Alberton tomorrow. I can on my way back stop there and have a look? Take some snaps with my phone? If need be.

    Hi Guys

    Thanks for the replies.

Morne: Thanks for the offer. I had my nephew take a look for me today. All seems good bar some scratches on the wheel arch at the back.

Just wanted to know whether anybody knew anything about this one....

Riaan: I had a look at that one in Paarl personally. Not in the condition that I liked. Plus its R40k more. Trade is supposed to be R220k -R235k depending on mileage and condition.

    Unhappy Re: Pajero 3.8 V6

    Hi All
Something else that I would like to know is whether somebody as tall as me (1.94m) would fit in a GLS specced pajero w.r.t height as it has a sunroof. Not a big fan of the sunroof, but as far as I know the 3.8ís were all GLS specced that had sunroofs.

I know the seat can lower, but can it go down far enough to be comfortable?

    Thanks

You will fit with room to spare. My dad is 1.84 and uncle over 2.0 ... both have Pajero's

The perceived interior size difference between the Triton and Pajero is rather big, but I guess it's because of the big glass and roomier cabin in the Paj. One is a nice and comfy bachelor flat, the other a roomy 5 bedroom house with big and high seats

    Hi Jean
You will fit in easily height wise, I am 1.91 so close enough. My problem is my right knee bumps against the corner of the arm rest a lot , actually starts hurting on longer trips especially on gravel roads. Just something to look out for when you test drive one next. Great vehicle otherwise. You will not be sorry. Just make sure you are with a bank with good rewards for fuel purchases.

    Hi Guys

Thanks for the replies and heads-up.

Won't be selling the Triton. I'm not loading wet dogs in the back of an SUV...... Selling the government's Pajero 3.5 so use to the fuel consumption.

I feel the need to own a big capacity petrol vehicle that is auto(becoming more and more lazy to do the shifting in daily traffic)

Druiwel: Funny you should mention it, I have the same problem in my Triton as well. After a 6000km trip through Namibia 2 years ago I would get out and rub my knee, telling my wife that this is the reason for taking a break, not the bum...... (but the Pajero has cruise control, so this should help a little?).

P.S. Flying up on Saterday to have a look in person. Easier to take a R1k loss than a R230k gamble...

The only thing you need to check the minute you get it, is the Butterfly shaft at the intake. Make sure its in good nick. If the intake swallow that....boom problems

    Will check thanks.

Wasn't aware that this was still an issue with the 3.8 Mivec motors as well.

I know the 3.5's had that issue.(mostly the 3.5 V6 DOHC) Our shorty is on 280k km and no issues touch wood. (3.5 V6 SOHC)

    Hi Guys

    Just an update....

    Drove the Pajero yesterday.

Engine and running gear all in beautiful condition. Interior is nice as well. 2 small scratches and a small dent underneath the driver side doorhandle.

Regarding the drive itself: I must admit after reading all the reviews etc regarding the nice ride comfort(standard suspension as far as I can identify), I was a little dissapointed, as I struggle to say that it drives much smoother than my Triton(Standard suspension).

The dash rattle however is in attendance as well.... But we know that can be sorted...

But other than that I'm tempted to go ahead and buy it....

Just a quick question for all the Gen 4 owners: Is your area where the passenger airbag would pop out of the dash visible? The lines? (Looks like the back of an envelope)

I have the VIN number and will be phoning Mits. tomorrow for info regarding parts booked against it.

    Regards

Jean, the "feel" of the cars is different because the suspension differ vastly.

The Paj comes into it's own when laden and also on fast gravel, the Paj soaks these up while the Triton you will be aware of any undulations.

But yes, the Pajero doesn't have a driving on marshmallows ride.

If and when it does, the bushes at the back are tired.

Yes the lines on the dash on the passenger side are visible but only in the right kind of light. As long as it doesnít look cracked then it is normal.
