    Default General Grabber AT3's

We currently have Hankook Dynapro AT's in 17" and 18" on our V6 and V10 Touaregs respectively. In the last two weeks we got tread punctures in the tread of the 18" (265/60) in Botswana and then again in Zim on fairly good, wide dirt roads.
Still have a bit of life on the 18's but now thinking of getting new tyres since one was damaged beyond repair and the plug on the other is not that great.
I understand that the General Grabber AT3 has a three ply tread so should be a bit more puncture resistant while the sidewalls are not too stiff to give a good contact patch when aired down for sand.
does anyone here have any experience, good or bad, with these tyres? Recently there have been some AT tyre shoot outs in one or other off road magazine. Anyone know which magazine and which issue?
Other than for the above mentioned punctures we have been very happy with the Hankooks. Pretty good in soft sand for the beach in Moz and quiet on tar.
    Any recommendations?

    Hi,

I have General Grabber AT3's 265/70 R17's on my Hilux.

They have done about 27000 kilometers to date without any punctures or slow punctures or any other issues whatsoever.

    I should also mention that:

I have done two trips with the Grabbers to Damaraland (6 days and 4 days, respectively) driving mostly gravel roads, riverbeds, Divorce pass, etcetera, also done an 8 day trip travelling Boesmanland, and the Khaudum as well as shorter off-road trips and 4x4 tracks around Windhoek and the Coast.

Have also done a 5000 kilometer trip to from Windhoek to Northern Natal and back.

Found them to very good off-road and on tar (I use the Hilux in town driving approximately 800 kilometers per month)

    Hope it helps.

In the A/T tyre test shoot out I see the Goodyear Adventure came out on top and was also second in the sidewall penetration test behind the BFG. The Goodyear certainly wasn't even on my radar.
Does anyone have any experience with these Goodyear Adventure A/T's?

Goodyear A/T's have been my go-to for many years. Good tyre/Rand value.

Have them fitted on my Fortuner. Very happy with them thus far. In the size (265/60R1 I have pricing also seems to have gone down. At this stage I will probably replace with the same.

Taking all into account I cannot justify more expensive tyres as these does everything I need them to do.

I believe that the GG AT3s come out with both 4 and 8 ply now.
