    Default No more V8?

So have heard the diesel V8 will be dropped. There was also a rumour that the 70 series will be dropped all together but seems it will still be in the line up for a while after the aussies started complaining.

Anybody know what engine will follow?

nope, looks like it's happening. Dealer told me the same thing. A friend in Dubai also told me the guy's are buying up the new 76 V8's while they can still get them.

apparently something about a V6 diesel?

Well, then the 4.2 would also go?
If I read the article correctly, then its more about the replacement for the 70series that would get a new motor?

They are dropping the 70 series due to Euro Nazi safety test issues.

Australia will never allow Toyota to kill the Cruiser. The sad part will be they will become Hybrid.
The link posted in this thread confirms it.

I heard somewhere that a new V6 Diesel will be used.

But still faaaaaar off, maybe 2/3 years, in SA anyway.

It seem as if Toyota is also going the v-engine route..
Mercedes went that route. Apparently the shorter engine give better weight distrubition. Also helps a bit with turbocharging intake plumbing.
BMW stayed with their lovely inline sixes.
Now Merc is apparently going back to inline 6...
They realized it was a mistake.

Wonder when Toy would realize it. They had great I6 motors?

A fresh report out of Japan suggests a next-generation Toyota Land Cruiser 200 will arrive in 2020, dropping its V8 engine in favour of a version of the twin-turbo 3,5-litre V6 already used in the Lexus LS sedan.

According to Best Car, a concept previewing the new Land Cruiser may well be revealed at the Tokyo Motor Show in October 2019.

The Japanese publication suggests the new Land Cruiser as well as the next-generation Lexus LX that will be developed alongside it will ride on a new ladder frame chassis, offering reduced weight and improved safety credentials.

The V6 which in the Lexus LS makes 310 kW and 600 N.m is likely to be mated to all four corners via a 10-speed automatic transmission. Interestingly, Best Car also reports a hybrid powertrain is in the works. However, no mention of diesel is made.

The current-generation J200 model (pictured below) has been in production since September 2007, with the Lexus LX following two months later.

While in other markets (including North America) Toyota offers a 5,7-litre V8 petrol engine, in South Africa the Land Cruiser 200 is available only with a 4,5-litre turbodiesel of the same configuration, offering 195 kW and 650 N.m.

I wonder what the fuel consumption will be compared to the 4.5 Diesel?

I am addicted to the sound of that V8 motor!! It will be missed by many!

No wonder! There is really no need for V8 vehicles anymore.
