    Default Performance Brake Discs

Hi Guys. I just thought i will share this with you.
I usually go to Botswana every June/July through Khubu and the Moremi etc... Now every time i get back my standard brake discs on my car is "shot" because of all the sand driving, the sand gets trapped between pad and disc and the cause deep grooves and scratching etc. Not mentioning warping because of the heat and towing a Bos Wa.
I got some prices for my vehicle manufacturer and the quote me R3350 per disc.
I decided to go buy normal Ferodo's at Midas for R510 per disc. I took them to a brake manufacturing company and the heat treated it so that i can handle heat and friction better and wont sommer warp again. and i also asked them to slot the discs. so that the sand trapped between the pad and disc get thrown out by the slots. Tested it and now when i go through thick sand the sand does not damage my discs any more!!!!

    Nice job that.
Lusted for a Landy but the Pajero was sexier and bigger in the right departments, just like my Missus.

The question is how much did the heat treating and slotting cost?

so in total it cost me R1220 per disc. Not bad at all.

Could you have just gone with the off-the-shelf PowerBrake 4x4 option?

Quick look up for brakes for my vehicle on the Powerbrake website shows them at R3530 a set.

So OP's mod is a good cost effective method👍
