Default Border entry Namibia and other heads up.

Entered Namibia on 15/7/019. NO! meat, dairy, eggs or wood allowed to enter the country. Current diesel price R14.31-14.40. Hobas is a ripoff @ R250.00 per person per night camping. Prices in the restaurant exhorbitant. Drains blocked. New ablution block, cold water only. Dirt roads, Grunau, Ai_ais, Ausenkehr, better than tar roads.

Diesel in Aus R14.96. Luderitz R14.16. Klein Aus vista R140 pp camping. Clean ablutions and each camp spot is secluded and has a tree, table, braai and tap. Only 10 sites. Booking essencial. Ludertz Dias point camping. No facilities, exposed and the wind is terrible.

Never camp in Luderitz. The world windsurfer speed record was set there. Notice the stained glass windows on the Felsenkirche have now been protected with polycarbonate to prevent centimetre size stones from damaging them? Rather sty at Obelix guesthouse.

For Vioolsdrift/Noordoewer border there is an excellent petrol station (Shell?) on the left after you finish with Nambian customs that has very good fire wood, some frozen meat, beer and other "essentials".

We drove up through in March with almost no provisions just so we wouldn't have to stress about what might or might not be allowed at the border, then loaded up on the Namibia side. There is that petrol station and a spar in Rosh Pinah. Not sure what your options are if you take the B1 or C37.

Sitzas. 100m from Mata mata border post. Campsite, 3 stands R 100.00 pp. Lovely little place. Border officials allowed us accross for day visits into the park. No accom available in park. No issue. Fuel at Mata R 16.47. Meat available at Sitzas. Good guality venison and mutton. Good price. Quiver tree forrest, R250.00 pp/n. Koes Agra well stocked. Goibib mountain lodge between Grunau and Keetmans. R140.00 pp well worth the stop over and will stay longer next time. Klein Sossos camping R450.00 for the night. Sesriem was fully booked and we passed on that one ( too many terrorists) It has become a sausage machine. The roads in and out of Sesriem are the worst i have driven in a long time. So badly corrugated i had to use 4x4 to help with traction.

The D707 in very good condition. C12 andC37 in very good condition C27 is so bad, that they drive next to the road. C14 Walvis to Helmeringhausen is very badly corrugated. Even the locals are complaining. Betta now has credit card facililies. Spar Ausenkehr has all the necessities. Rosh Pina Spar eccellent. All other commodities available in town.(some at a premium) Little Sossos camping and Sitsas only takes cash. Grunau, looks exactly the same as it was in 1975, except for the new garage on the B1- B3 intersection. Exited through Ariamsvlei. +/- 13h00. 15 minutes. No issues at all.

M29, C18, C17, D511, C15 in very good condition. Most dirt roads we drove in Nam, was better than any tar road in Nam and RSA. Speed was between 80- 100. Bakkie and caravan tyre pressures were 2.2. All tyres still intact and none the worse for wear. Drove +/- 3000km of dirt roads in 14 days.

Very nice camp sites at Canyon Roadhouse on the D601, about 30km from the main Fish River Canyon viewpoint. Water and electricity at each site. Very nice ablutions. Basic supplies and fuel onsite as well.

Stayed there in December 2017. Can't remember the campsite costs though.
