    Default Petrol pedal/throttle very hard

    Hi

I need some advise on how to fix my problem. I have a 2005 2.6 GLX scorpio SUV. For the last couple of months I find it very difficult to press the petrol pedal. It is very hard. Do I have to replace the the petrol cable? Or is there anything else that can also have an effect on this?

    Thank you

I suggest you investigate the pivot point on the top of the pedal. The plastic bush wears away and then the pivot shaft starts wearing away the bracket.

All I can suggest is what we used to do with the bike cables. Loosen one end and allow penetrating oil to run down inside the sheath.
Lusted for a Landy but the Pajero was sexier and bigger in the right departments, just like my Missus.

    Not familiar with your vehicle.

As suggested by Jelo. The pivot mechanism requires lubrication or it can wear eventually. The cable itself can get sticky in its sheath and then where the cable attaches to the throttle body, that lever can also get sticky over time.

If the outer sheath of the cable is damaged or pinched, it can also affect the pedal feel

I have a similar Scorpio and had the same problem. Also tried the lubrication etc, until the cable snapped. Had a new cable made by guys in van der Hoff road (sorry, cant remember their name), think it worked out under R200
