I'll bet the resale values won't be up there by Merc standards...

    Oh well, no biggie.
I still don't understand why anybody would have purchased an overpriced navara with MB badges.. The original would do just fine.

End of the road for the Mercedes-Benz X-Class disputed

Mercedes-Benz has reportedly refuted claims that emerged earlier this week that it is considering dropping the X-Class from its model range due to slow sales.

Navara met mascara... teen dubbeld die prys.

En dan het hulle nog dit gebou op n totaal en al n flop van n navara...

Ek sal maar skip en loop verby. Nes al die ander kopers

I think you could be right with this, its often the case where a vehicle was killed off after a very short run.

That would be good news for the owners at least. That will secure spare parts at least for another few years.
Luckily I am still not convinced. I went to see it in the flesh when they launched and did not impress at all. The price was of course the final coffin nail.
It cannot just be "nice" at that price, it must be exceptional, which in my opinion, it just isn't.

In my opinion, the Amarok has the top end of the market tied up with their V6. Wish I could afford and justify that bakkie....

I spoke to a guy who had the 350 v6 diesel model. He told me that the complete body is actually made by Nissan and Mercedes only paint it and that the front suspension is complete Navara suspension and also the 2.3 diesel X-class, that motor is also the Navara motor. The rear diff is Geladewagen diff though......

I think the sales wasnt what they expected.......no wonder looking at the price.....! I will never pay that much for a bakkie.

A number of friends / family loyalists that ownes MB products, especially SUV - types, just reverted back to Hilux when it came to bakkie buying time. MB massively overestimated brand loyalty vs informed buyers.

This, coupled to the presence of the V6 Amarok, doomed the Merc bakkie from the word get-go.

The market is just not ready for a crossbreed at a million bucks. I would love to have been be a fly on the boardroom wall where THIS was discussed. It is a corporate booboo of quite epic proportions.

Good riddance. I don't think there's any chance of it becoming a classic either, it would have needed to be a very good bakkie for that to happen. And IMO, it just isn't. So I think the resale is going to be very poor. Might be able to get a 350d for a absolute bargain shortly.

I actually think Merc would have done better if they originally based it on the Amarok. The Amarok is more aligned with what Merc was trying to sell their bakkie as - a lifestyle vehicle. Even though it's almost 10 years old, the Amarok still regularly beats the new Navara in most comparative tests. So I just think it would have made a better base for a Merc bakkie. But then, Merc and VW are not really known for working together? Although, come to think of it, the new Crafter and Merc van share a lot?

    Sorry Helmut
A Mercedes Bakkie with a star on the bonnet can only be a UNIMOG, everything else is fake.

The G Wagon pick up was definitely sold to the armed forces in Europe. The Greek army has lots. See them on a daily basis.

I expected and said its going to happen even before they started production.U cant come into a well established market dominated by Toyota and Ford and expect to walk out a winner, Nissan which is the partner with mercedes isnt doing well on the market and they thought, oh, lets slap a Merc star on and itll sell? No it wont. Anyway , who pays in excess of R1mil for a working bakkie??

I came so so close to buying one for the Mrs, was waiting for the petrol version, had it been solely my decision it would have been in the garage.
The Mrs didn't want to wait so we went with a C220d coupe, retrospectively perhaps fortune smiled on us, as I doubt they'll sell or trade well in a few years.

If you want to see how far off the mark they are read the Amarok comparison in the latest Car mag - the only thing decent is the Merc V6!!
