Default Clarens to Underberg via Lesotho

Is this route feasible in the google time mentioned of 5 hours (see map)? Does anyone know what the road conditions are? -

I will be coming form Johannesburg and stopping in Fouriesburg crossing the border at Caledonspoort Border, and then on to Sani Pass and on to Underberg.

    Using a Subaru Forester.

    thanks for any information!

Good tar the whole way, bar coming down Sani. 5 hours might be a bit quick, probably 6 at best if you include border stops and a bit of sightseeing. I'm also assuming good road conditions - ie no snow or ice.

Depends when you plan to go , right now , snow mite /could be a problem and can be a stopping block , take into your planning . Its a awesome drive with good tar all the way , but if snowed over , then a no go .

It would take longer before that route was tarred. I havent done it since it was tarred but I think it would be doable in that time although my gut says it will take longer.

Black Mountain pass alone, before tarring and based on the weather conditions, often took the best part of an hour, as can Sani Pass.

As pointed out, weather can play a large part in trip times in Lesotho
There is no such thing as inclement weather, only poor selection of clothing.... or Vehicle
