Default Anyone here bought a new JL yet?

I’m interested to hear if there is anyone on the forum who has purchased a new JL and is ready to give us an honest and unbiased review of it.

I have only test driven it and I think that the new gearbox is fantastic compared to the 5 speed in the JK.

For a 4x4 forum, that is a sad thought

I think they’re quite simple to work on. More than enough indies if there is a problem you can’t fix yourself.

Jeep priced themselves out of business. The JK was very, very successful, and then they got greedy. That coupled with unfavourable exchange rates means they won't be selling many this side of the world.

You get the factory maintenance and warranty plans as part of the sale so the real issue is the bottom line price.

That goes without say but one shouldn’t own a Wrangler and be worried about breakdowns and warranties. The vehicles should be tough enough.

You would have to be a madman to pay R900 000 for a vehicle and then have the warranty effectively nulled.

You can buy clean low milage JK's for R350 000. And then you dont need to worry about the warranty.

I'd love a JL. But they dont make sense at the price point.

    all very true

Paying a bar for a 4x4 is mental, regardless of brand and gadgets. A year ago this was prime vehicle territory.

Suggest they buy the JKs now if the iconic FJ Cruiser prices are anything to go by

The only market for the new JL are tenderpreneurs... apparently GCM has sold a few so they say!!!

Us lowly paid 4x4 guys have to stick with our JKs - after waiting 2yrs for the JL to be released - decided to just keep my truck and trick it out with some extras - will pretend to bank the rest of the cash saved on a new JL

And with so many Jeep dealerships closing - the indies are having a feeding frenzy (prices hiked all around for everything) - same for the remaining dealerships - sorry no discount on parts!!! I had a buy a few things last week and normally the guys would be me 5 or 10 percent off - this time take it or leave it!!!

Still love my truck tho!!! Can never bring myself to sell it!!!

ha ha, if you see some vehicles on the forum I think there are quite a few members that can afford one, I think the problem is more getting their hands on one.

A new 76 V8 cruiser with a few nice accessories and you are close to a bar, and the accessories void most of your warranty, at least here anyway. So seems quite a few madmen out there.

Big difference in use between the LC76 and a JL.

In 1994 we built our house for R199k, thought we were mad. In 1999 I bought an Audi v6 30v Tiptronic Avant for R190k and for the first week I had night sweats over the price. My cash threshold would be @ R1m but my mental threshold is probably around the R350k mark for a vehicle although I have been very tempted to splash some cash on the odd Hummer H2 that comes up on Autotrader. These go for R500k to R700k, which I could probably justify to Swambo on safety grounds

So as they say in Poker circles, boys, I'm out.
