Loads of threads on this, so use the search but generally very reliable. Change the 2 x plastic connectors under the engine cover, keep an eye on the water pump, service the gearbox oil, change the silica in the compressor, check and fix the front sunroof drain tubes, if they have already leaked check the splices under the carpets add they can cause lots of electronic issues.

If the gearbox oil hasn't been done by 160,000kms, you can expect a rebuild pretty soon. So factor that into the buying price and your future expenses. I see guys talking about R60k for a gearbox refurb...........

    Hi Jelo

even at 160'000km if there is no apparent misbehaviour of the gearbox, a closed loop flushing of the gearbox will normally get it right.

The problem with double or even triple flushes is, that the muck in the valve body and the TC solenoid piston/sleeve can not be removed. But they are when the closed loop procedure is used.

As for the V8, it is the most reliable option of D3/D4 motoring.

    good luck!

35K at ZF if the Valve Body is ok, 45 if its not. Keep in mind as per the discussion yesterday, no amount of flushing, Dr Tranny etc will fix a box if the adaption values progress beyond the limits.
