    Default Catalytic converter..?

    Catalytic converter ?
I have a 2016 Foton Tunland 4x4 now with 130000 km on the clock, about a month back I noticed that it was a little heavier on fuel (from 9L/100km to 10.2L/100km) (measured over 1000km) and she was down on power.... I took it in to where I normall service the vehicle .... About 15min later the guy comes and tells me it can cost about R5k to fix or about R1k to fix ...my choice.... Well no choice there, he sent me to an exhaust place ( which I know well) and tells me to tell them to haul out the Catalytic converter and replace it with another box.

So I do that.....I imeaditly notice a difference .... A bit more power than before and down to 8.5L/100 km... Can a blocked converter really make such a difference , she is now even better than new...is this normal ...

Yes it will make a huge difference! I had it done on my 2008 kb300 and noticed a huge difference in fuel consumption, power up as well.

Was that the R5k fix or the R1k, maybe it's a straight pipe with no cat?
