Default What are my Tyre choices ?

    Hi All

Your valuable guidance will be appreciated.

I will soon need to be changing tyres on my Discovery 3 V8. I have about 50% of tread left but have a bubble on my RH rear tyre caused by a pothole,so want to start looking at possible replacements. I currently have Goodyear Essential grip 255/60/18 's fitted. They grip well in the wet and so far had no major issues with them. Also very minimal road noise on the open road, which is a plus.

At this stage I don't do major offroading but do travel on a lot of dirt roads, as the vehicle is with me in Zambia at present (on contract here). I would like a all terrain Tyre as I think they would be more durable in the long run.

What are my options? And how much will i be in for?

    Regards
    Mark

Goodyear Duratracs would be great but I don't think that you get them in that size in SA.

    Best place to do research.

Looks like they've still got the older General Grabber in that size.

Works very well on D3 and good price too.

You should buy there, and not only do research!

For that usage I'd go for Good Year Adventure if you can get it.

Maybe go up a half size?

Sorry I entered the incorrect size on their portal. Adventure is made in that size, but currently does not have a delivery date, so ETA from Goodyear is sketchy. Couple of other suppliers do have though...

The common size for D4's is 255/55/r19, and that size Goodyear Duratrac is available. I have a set like that.

But I also have a set of BFG k02 265/65r18's, and I use that for the serious off-road trips. Compomotive rims.

BFG's, maybe slightly smaller, would serve you well. BFG k02 265/60r18's are more common.

You should be able to get them cheaper than that.

I recently fitted the Pirelli Scorpion ATR+, very happy and decently priced.

See they have stock for your size:
