Default Camping within 2 hours of Pretoria

Any recommendations for a camp site within 2 hours of Pretoria? Preferably something off grid/no power (looking for some peace and quiet) and definately MTB trails.

I was hoping to go to Tambuki @ Sondela but this is unfortunately fully booked. Ezemvelo near Bronkhorstpruit has also popped up, anyone been there lately?

Have a look at some of the places in Dinokeng.

I've been to Almega, which is not off grid, but it's the only one I know personally.
Next on my list is Kyleu - I think that's the correct spelling, but looks really good from their website, and is offgrid.

Kyleu is awesome and i will really recommend!! No mountain bike trails but i am sure there might be some places close by?

Bush camping with the odd chance of a Lion or Elephant walking past your tent....

    Somabula between Rayton and Cullinan.

Off grid with private ablutions and MBT tracks.

You will certainly return once you been there

Went to Ezemvelo, had power but didn't really use it. Great for MTB. Can cycle down to the hikers hut... And best of all, had the place to ourselves...

Agree with Johan, very nice spot. Only thing annoying for us was the traffic on the main road between Cullinan and Rayton, especially Sunday morning early, lots of motorbikes racing past, sounded like a racing track.

Will definitely be back after winter.

Thanks for all the suggestions so far, @Johan will definitely check out Somabula.

I am busy working through the pinned posts for bush camping but wanted one specifically with MTB trails and figured someone else might find the shortlisted information handy as well.

You may also want to consider Bush Boys Camping in Tonteldoos(near Dullstroom). This may be just a little further than 2 hours from Pretoria but is highly recommended. This is a true bushcamp on a farm and is off grid but really nice ablutions with hot water from a donkey. When you book it you can have the entire camp to yourself and there are many MTB and 4X4 trails on or around the farm property. The rates are really great at R100 per person and the owners Joe and Ruth are fantastic hosts. I did put up a post in the camping threads headed "Awesome definitive bush camp in Tonteldoos" a couple of days ago with some pictures in the thread to give you some idea. If you would like more information please PM me and I will gladly help.

Agree with Somabula. A great place to visit and in your back yard if you're from Pretoria. I posted a review on YouTube after we visited Somabula a couple of months ago.

I can strongly recommend Boschhoek Mountain Estates. http://www.boschhoekmountain.co.za Contact Herbert Smith 0836548201 (a member of this forum).
Only 1 campsite with ablutions & braai. Nice and remote & quiet. No electricity. Has various antelope & giraffe on the estate.
