    Default 35" wheels on defender

    Hi everybody
    I have a 110 pick up that i use as a toy.It has 33" wheels on at the moment and everything else is still standard.
    I can now get a set of 35" tyres but i dont know how much i will have to modify my vehicle to fit them.
    If somebody has done it please tell me if it is worth it and what it entails.
    Thanks.

    Aarde na John Grobler!!!

    John van die Landy Shop in Hoedspruit het al jare 35's op sy pick up. Daar was nie veel mods as ek reg onthou nie.

    Might get away with a 2 lift
    Wheel spacers
    Wheel arch extenders
    Caster correction radius arms
    HD drive flanges

    Ps with a 4 lift your looking at extending brake lines. But there are braided hoses available.

    Yes, I think you are correct

    Sandboarder put 35s on with the following:

    10J Modulars (UK) -30 offset

    2" Terrafirma HD Lift

    Won't the larger tyres turn the Defender into a real donkey?

    A regear to keep the driveability as well I reckon.

    Will follow with interest

    A diff ratio change is not very expensive and makes a huge difference.

    Cheaper to get a transfer case with a lower final drive ratio. The 1.667 ratio is available.

    Running 35 on 15x10j rims with +2 coils front and 2 spacers on rear just +2 coils, have wheel spacers, 6 caster front and also changed back as well to adjustable one, changed panhard rod to adjustable one, changed brake hoses to SS braded lines.

    I've built two Defenders on 35's.

    110 Puma CSW & 100" 3.9 V8 Pickup.

    From what I can remember at the moment, the minimum to be done:
    * 30mm wheel spacers
    * 2" lift
    * Stronger steering rods. 35's bend the standard ones on tar, never mind offroad
    * Upgrade your brakes

    On Puma I did the following related to the bigger wheels (+ lots and lots of other mods not mentioned):
    * 30mm wheel spacers
    * 3" lift
    * Extended brake lines
    * Widened wheel arches
    * Cranked trailing arms
    * Replaced with reinforced pan hard rod
    * Replaced reinforced steering rods
    * Power Brake upgrade
    * RTC steering damper
    * Trim wheel arch in rear
    * Modify long range tank
    * Modify wheel arch water tank
    * X-Eng lockable anti roll bar
    - I have stripped diff twice, broken many side shafts & recently a propshaft too....
    - The gearing on Puma is quite good with the 35"s

    On V8 100" pickup:
    * Steel rims with offset
    * 3" lift
    * Replaced reinforced steering rods
    * Re-geared transfercase (it's got auto box, which also helps)

    I would recommend Ashcroft drive train upgrades. The problem is where does one stop... Somewhere something will want to break - I chose it to be side shafts
    Range Rover Big Body 5.0 V8 Supercharged
    Land Rover Defender 110 CSW Puma
    Land Rover Defender 100 PU V8
    Land Rover Freelander II SD4
