Default Sync 3 USB to charge smartphone

A question, to try and charge my Samsung Smart Phone using the two USB sockets in my 2019 Ranger is probably not a good idea? Or is it? Rather use a 12V cigarette power socket charger?

Why should it not be a good idea? The phone needs 5V to charge and that is what USB gives, and partly what it's there for...

agreed, that's why they are there, I'd rather use that than the R20 charger from street vendor

I've been charging my phone for a year and 62k km using those sockets and the battery in the phone is still perfect.

It depends on the Amp rating of those ports. If it charges efficiently then go for it but if charges too slow then get a proper cigarette lighter charger like a Energizer, something with a 3amp rating at least.

Those street vendor chargers is just a recipe for frustration...
If Force is not the solution, not enough of it was applied....

Dont you need to see the charging specs of phone and make your system compatible? Have seen info on web about Samsung and Iphone about this, as well as Gopro and other cameras. Aftermarket systems vary and car chargers at 12v have to be transformed to 5v, and some Samsung devices built to handle fast charge, ie settable, some generations not compatible.

See outputs on OEM charging system and check vehicle spec as well as device spec IMO. My 2c and would like comments if anyone has experience.

Your phone controls/regulates the charging. No worries.

It might charge a little slower than with your 220 wall charger but I don't think you will notice it on your Samsung.

Samsung went conservative with their wall chargers output since the Note "burning" fiasco.

On a Huawei you will see a difference, Huawei wall-chargers charges at 40w, Samsung at 15w.
