    Default Bank Cards Accepted

    Hi All,
Looking for the latest advice on an upcoming trip next month. Its been almost 20 yrs since I lived in this fantastic region of the world, so can anyone tell me if European debit cards are fairly widely accepted in any of Namibia, Zambia and Botswana? I understand I'm better taking a Visa marked credit card (rather than mastercard) as back-up. I also saw something referring to photo ID on credit cards (which isn't done in ireland anyway),
    Thanks in advance,
    Sonja

Visa debit cards do work fine in this part of the world.
Maestro can have some issues as it is not supported in some banks or shops.

As for credit cards, Visa and Mastercard work throughout, for filling stations as well as shops and grocery.

We don't use photo ID credit cards this side.

Visa is the norm, and make sure your bank understands the countries that the transactions will emanate from.
