Default Payment of park fees changes

Park fees now will be paid now per day but not per night. National Parks are now charging park entry by day.

So in effect if you are in the park for one night, you are charged for two days. ?

This is not clear, I assume is just the change of word, "Per Night" I will however ask for clarification from DWNP..

I understand that you are subject to pay entry fees for each calendar day you will spend in the parks and camping fees remain per night.
Entry fees no longer cover the next morning inside the park, unless that day is also paid in full I understand.
So yes 1 night camping will result in 2 days entry fees.

When I read the middle section this appears to be quite clear.

Let's say we arrive day one at midday, we will be charged that day in full. We then stay in the park for four nights. The day we leave we will be charged a full day. So Four nights and Five days.

It effectively adds one more day to your booking.

    Its very clear:
If you are going to Moremi, for example one night, You leave Maun 0500, and 0630 you check in, you will pay for that full day, even if you arrive late afternoon. The next day, you will now NOT be forced to be out of the Reserve by 11:00, so you Now spend the next day, going through the park untill 1830 when its closed. In fact you will have spent, 1 nights, 2 days in the park. This is how Mobile Safari Charges, you are Charged, lets say, 4nights/5 days safari.
This will help also, if your last day is at Piper Pans, and you will have to exit at Matswere. You can now drive at your own pace and exit late afternoon. It was impossible that by 11:00, being out of Matswere coming from Piper Pans.

Yes , I also called, they confirmed but PAT n WOLF, don't you think despite the law , they have to consider that a day is 24HOURS,this will make sense but I just feel you will be paying twice in 24hours[day]

If only you missed your depature time, then I will buy it, for instance if you get into the park at 12noon then It will be understandable to exit the same time the following day, but in this case it doesnt matter, if you stay a night in the park you pay for 2days..I think its a bit squeezed somewhere.

    tnx

One thing that worries me about this is that people might not be in a hurry to vacate their campsite. Imagine arriving at say 14h00 or 15h00 and finding the previous occupants of your campsite in no hurry to pack up because technically they still have paid time in the park left.

    Unlikely, but I just wonder.8)

Very possible scenario without clearly stated check-in and check-out times.
Look at how Kubu Island phrases ist: "on your last day your holiday ends at 10 a.m. at Lekhubu Island....." or something like it.

Hie Christa. If I understand it, it states park entrance fees, NOT camping fees. Camping fees will be by night and Park Fees is the one we talking about. So, camping you will have to obey stipulated check out time. I

Will this be transferrable between parks, ie. you leave CKGR at nine and arrive at Moremi say, at four in the afternoon.
Will they charge for one day, or two days, being different parks?

We are in exactly that dilemna, we are leaving Khumaga (MKK) on 20/5/20 driving across the road and entering Nxai of the same day. I've had it confirmed by NDM (who are great to deal with by the way) that we'll have to pay BWP290 (2 x adults and 1 x vehicle) for each of the parks on that day. The seems absolutely ludicrous but it is what it is …………………….

    Hi,

I witnessed the guard at Moremi North Gate applying this 2 days ago. 3 Germans showed up at 4pm with a booking at Khwai just inside the park. They were charged 3x2x120 for park fees + 2x50 for the car, on top of the ridiculous 550pp for camping. For some strange reason, they mentioned that were heading straight to Maun the next morning, but it didn't help. 2470P for a nights camping is insane for a family of 3...

I got lucky, I was only charged 2 days park fees at Savuti even though I camped 2 nights.

    Steve

I have always been under the impression that Khumaga and Xnai pan were part of the same Makgadigadi pans park. Shows you, never to old to learn. I will be packing up at Xnai pan on the 25th on my way to Hwange, thus spending probably max three hours at Xnai pan to exit, on an extremely shitty road, both the old route and cut line are very bad, but will have to pay for that day in Xnai, and probably, if I make it, Hwange. Daylight robbery.
