Had my first real live interaction with the new Raptor on Saturday...

Was driving on the R21 south in the middle lane. Just flashing lights from the back and weaving through traffic... Was looking for the BMW or Audi emblem but all I saw was a brand new Raptor Ranger...

That being said, although it was driven by a chop. Probably one of the best looking bakkies on our market at the moment

YOH I sat in one today it is crazy nice.

It is not for me but it is a game changer.

I remember as a school boy, a 4x4 Hilux was released that looked like it could go anywhere. It was taller than any other Bakkie. The Cortinas and Nissans wer suddenly a Platcar.

Well my Hilux felt like a Cortina today.

The price tag and order book does not match. All the other expensive bakkies did not rock the sales but this one does.

I hope we will be able to seperate Ranger sales from Raptor sales.

    Comfort Gadgets looks and ability.

    The Jeep of bakkies!

Maybe so, but I understand Jeep is pulling out of SA.

Where does your info come from? Don’t think they will go through the cost and effort of launching the new Wrangler, Compass and Cherokee if this was the case.

I think the rumour was started here on the forum. Not sure there are any facts to back it up. But they are decreasing their dealer footprint.

Would love to see what the expected production would be i.e. will they be able to fill the orders!!

I think there will be a lot of awesome kitted bakkies up for sale with low km's when this is launched. You know, people have to keep up

How sustainable is 157 units? (April 2019) , over 25 selling dealers, plus 14 service dealers. (What is that, roughly 1 vehicle / week / dealer? For Jeep specifically - ~2 / month.)

Will I buy a Raptor, Nope, but common guys its a good looking bakkie, its going to appeal to some purely because of the cool factor and it is extremely cool looking, why do we need to try and find a reason why one should not buy it?

Instead of going aftermarket Ford has put on all the goodies straight from the factory, well played Ford.

Theres somethings that dont need justification to do...like buying a Raptor, enjoy the dunes!

I agree, it looks cool. But don't buy it in black, I saw one in black over the weekend and it needs a brighter colour. Well, then again, maybe it was just a real "Rapter" Raptor...

i think that's a j8 jeep, military speck . you can have them custom built, hemi motor, dana 60 diffs, the whole nine yards, built in egypt or some arab country if i remember correctly, looked into them a few years ago. but was a few ronds more than i could afford.

So every sand road is left a sand road specifically because it's in or around "nature"? Nothing to do with usage volumes, types of vehicles, location/destination, available funds? come on!

and actually - I don't own a Ranger... or a Ford... or a DC. That's just another one of your wildly incorrect statements.

So while taking the Ranger in to the dealer yesterday I saw one standing outside. I reckoned it was just a display unit but very soon a sales lady popped up with the key
I was actually in a hurry but when she said we must take it for a drive I couldn't say no. This thing screams "MEAN" from every direction and you can see it was built to be functional and tough at the same time. The inside is just so very nice. I mean we drive the ranger so are very familiar with the build and layout but the raptor is just so much more. It is a lot wider than the normal ranger so on narrow roads you can feel it.
I will not say that it is faster than the 3.2 (doesnt feel to be) but it has an amazing roar(for a diesel) that puts a smile on your face everytime you gun it.
I can honestly say that I cannot see how any normal bakkie can compete with this. Even SWAMBO who is not a car enthusiast were seriously impressed with this

Those are independent non-Ford dealers that somehow get the newest models almost before the franchised dealers. They sell then at a premium to those that cannot wait to get the latest models and don't want to be on the waiting list.

Oh, I told my dealer in January I wanted one, and I am getting mine Friday. Cannot wait!

Awesome. Cannot wait to hear some feedback after some "real world" driving.

PS. And start a new thread "My Life with my Raptor" or something like that

Yeah, will do. I am almost a little bit upset with dealer, as they got it last Friday already and he did not inform me. But, I get it. It is the only one they can get for now and they obviously want to show it off for a bit on their showroom floor for a couple of days before they let me have it...

You sure it is not just a display unit? But also used for some test-driving from various interested-but-not-buying visitors? I personally would hate if some potential-buyers test-ride my ordered vehicle as I won't know what excessive driving stuff they did to the truck...

That is why I insisted on a low mileage and a non-testdrive model when I bought my Ford Ranger back in 2016.

Plus if it was me, I would have waited a few more months until all kinks are sorted out with the Raptor.
