They come in all shapes and sizes and to fit the various devices: Must be compatible with the device.

I have been in Pretoria East for the past 2 days and no hardware store that I went to knew of this tape. Where did you get it? If possible please post a picture of the packaging.

    Thanks.

It's not normally in hardwares, a customer of mine who worked for "Sellotape" gave me a roll a few years ago, so I don't even know cost. I treat it like gold, but persevere and find some you won't be sorry.

Just look for the high strength double sided tape at Builders or similar places. They have different brands, and usually all have red backing tape.

    Example: https://www.builders.co.za/Fixings-F...iABEgIZyPD_BwE

I usually get the Sellotape brand.

The wife showed me her roll of "No More Nails" tape. It is like the pic below. Not sure if is the removable gel type.

The specs for the No More Nails state "Maximum holding power can be reduced at higher temperatures". I think it may not work too well if using it to attach a GPS bracket to the windscreen.

I don't think the No More Nails is the same as the 3M Gel tape.

An update: I got busy with petrol and a rag, followed by more scraping with a blade, and am very happy to report that the beastly silicone is GONE.
    Thank you 4x4 community!

Petrol dissolves silicone. That is why you cannot seal something with silicone if it holds petrol or if petrol runs through it.

Black (suction cups) absorb light and heat, i wonder whether a white suction cup would not stay on longer. I am now trying to treat cause not symptom.
Obviously, using a cup not affected by heat would not require glue of sorts.

I agree, cell phones etc falling from windscreens irritate me endlessly. Have bought a light blue (did not have much option) suction cup with a magnetic base and it seems to work well

For windscreen problems, marks, adhesives etc., I find my local windscreen replacement depot a mine of products and advice. Once I came back to my car to find the rear view mirror had come off and all my attempts failed miserably. All the usual 'sticks anything to anything' adhesive carried warning NOT for windscreen use. Called by the windscreen folks and the job was done in minutes. They also had cleaners too.

But for my Garmin I use one of these. Easy to demount when renting a car and proved to be Van Zyl's and East Africa proof.
