Noise while driving is like wheel bearing noise - can't make the noise change with weaving or the accelerator

Fluid is clean with no metal flakes on the magnetic drain plug. Level is good.

I suspect the right carrier bearing inside the diff.

    Common failure point?

Car does a lot of bad gravel, and is on 340'000km.

Bearings are cheap, but taking the diff out means stripping both rear hubs to get the side shafts out.
Realised I never updated. It was a rear wheel bearing

    Starter said goodbye

It must have been worked on in the past. Solenoid had no spring inside.

Luckily the ring gear ate the bendix, and not the other way round.

Asked Mitsu for bendix kit and solenoid. R6k

Brand new complete starter from Midas - R1900 delivered to my door.

Simple job. Battery disconnect, ATF dipstick tube out. + Cable and spade off starter. Two 14mm bolts and out she comes.

My Pajero is the Gen 4 with the Aisin gearbox and within the last month Mitsubishi quoted me just over R11k + VAT for this kit that I thought may be a good idea to carry as a spare on our present excursion. Not at R11k.

They also quoted over R8k for a new SCV and I got one from Masterparts for R1773.

Ek vermoed dis dalk agv battery.

Daai 3.2 engine vat baie oomph om te start.

Ek is al op my derde battery in ses jaar. Hulle hou gewoonlik so 2-2.5 jaar.

As hy een keer my drop en hy is ouer as twee jaar koop ek nuwe battery.

As jy nie vroeg spring nie is die voltage drop dalk te kwaai vir die cheap starter.

Ek is OK daarmee.

I have been chasing a rear suspension knock for months.

I saw some play on the trailing arm bush on the hub side. Bushes didn't look bad but there was some play. Eventually bit the bullet and ordered a bush kit

At the price a bit disappointed. Would have liked the edges to be chamfered to make it easier to get them in. It was a PITA. Also had to take a bit of material from the sleeve on the ID to get the bolt to go through.

Eventually got them in, after removing the old bush sleeve.

Replacement bushes are considerably harder and a tighter fit.

Knock is gone, and car actually feels softer but more solid at the same time.
