Got the car back. Pretty happy. Dash seems as solid as before, if not a tad more solid.

No. Its quick enough. Mapping can add power. No map can be more economical than the factory map.

Im not jeopardising the reliability by changing the operation of one of the most reliable engines in the world.

My question stems from the gearbox lockup addition you added for increasing the economy. My two issues with the remapping are 1: Possible decreased reliability/engine life. 2: Small gains and not well documented Fuel savings.

Traction control and abs lights came on, and shortly after the CEL. Slight performance decrease as well.

Scanned it and the error showed boost sensor issues.

Plugged in the scanner for live readings. Readings were off, even with a clean.

Ordered a new sensor from bidorbuy for R1300 (agents wanted over R4k) and job done.

Gutted the old one. Just two tiny load sensors. Same likely as a bathroom scale.

Car part prices are insanely ridiculous. I reckon this denso mass produced part cost less than R20 to manufacture.

Small black sensor next to diesel filter. It has a thin pipe going from it to the intake manifold.

I used my generic bluetooth obd elm327 dongle with the torque pro app.

Hi Marius, sorry to "steel your thread". My Gen 4 started to stall every second day at the traffic light, Diagnoses was suction control valve. I decided not to replace it, and took it out and had one of my technician's opened it up and cleaned it. Put it back, and all of a sudden, much more responsive. 2 months since then, no issues anymore, lesson to I, not necessary to replace it always . Don't know if you had SVC issues on yours before. Mine now on 312000 km.

I had the same with company Triton 2.5 and my pajero.

Both times tried the cleaning route which only lasted about three months. Bought new and never had an issue again.

I'm loving this thread! After quite a bit of research, I bought a 2014 Gen 4 GLS with just over 200k on the clock.

Fetched it in Johannesburg and drove back to Nelspruit with speed control at an indicated 135km/h (128km/h GPS) and got a tank-to-tank 12km/l. Here in Nelspruit everything is either uphill or downhill, so consumption isn't great. But this truck pulls like a train and the aircon is terrific.

Every time I drive it, I like it more than the previous time.

    First big expense

Rear wheel bearing on the right side is fubar

Tried to get an aftermarket one without success. Arnold at Mitsi said don't even bother, they don't last. My usage is rough. So I bit the bullet and ordered from the agents.

R5500 for one bearing. Touareg bearings were half that.

Granted it's the first big expense and the car is halfway through it's finance period.
