    Default Arrow head cabin boat

I've been on the lookout for a small light fishing boat for Kosi bay, estuaries, dams etc. Today I have been offered an immaculate arrowhead cabin - 4.1m with an old but good Yamaha 30 electric start. Five year buoyancy , new deck and in general good nick. I believe these boats are very stable and due to the hull design plane easily with small motors? Any reviews, are they suitable for my intended use? The price suggests this is a bargain of note.

Keep in mind you need a skipper's licence if you run a motor of more than 15HP, just in case you didn't know

They are quite stable yes but very bumpy on choppy water.

Had an arrowhead bass boat many years ago. Had a 60 on the back and it flew. The 30 wont blow you away but is more than adequate for what you want to do.

I think those cabin boats are great for estuaries. My experience of my classic 170 on Kosi was that it got pretty interesting once the wind picked up?

I am not sure what an Arrow head cabin boat is, but if it has a decent bow and high freeboard, then it should be good.

Anything that can take water over a low bow , or the gunnels, that is not a wet deck, I would avoid on those waters.

If you have the option of a wet deck, I would take that every time.

    Cheers

Ham..........Googled, and I found this Thread.

I bought an Arrowhead ski last week for a little bass boat.

It doesnt have a COF or Buoyancy, I'll have to have that sorted ASAP.

HUGE favour.......can you please PLEASE send me a pic of your Buoyancy and/or COF, if at all possible?? That would help a LOT, a Guy is coming down this weekend to inspect our boats (COF), and he will also look at my Arrowhead's buoyancy, but we need ful specs on the boat (as stated in those 2 Forms)

    PLEASE.

Hope you read this.......anyone maybe has OP's contact details, I'd like to also contact him personally??

Petri, if you dont manage give these guys a ring. They will be able to help you with the specs on those arrowheads. If I'm not mistaken they used to build arrowhead boats, maybe they still do.

all cathedral hulls bang in a chop its just the way it is i have a indigo 400 with tiller arm, but the stability is incredible very similar hull to arrow head, i changed from a tinny to this for that exact reason

I have had an arrow head with a Yamaha 60 for the last 15 years. An amazing boat. As I like to cast for swimming prawn from her I have put in a false deck. So you sit higher off the water. Very stable but with a cathedral hull a bit choppy in rough water when travelling. I have two office chairs with the director chair base which does not puncture a hole in the deck. They moved around easily and three people fish very comfortably off her. Launching is extremely easy as well as getting her back on the trailer. I have put a live well on the back which allows water to flow in and out. Great for spotties when you have live swimming prawn as bait. Also a terrific boat to flick artificial lures off. I do not know what you are paying but a second hand setup if you look properly would be in the region of 15k. I think my neighbour has a shell in his garden. But no trailer or motor etc. Sometimes building it up to your own needs helps a lot.

Must say I'm impressed with the bootjie - traded it in on a car last week for REALLY cheap, so plenty "play" to make it nice.

1997 Model, with 1997 Yammie 40 2 stroke (E/Start, no T&T, Premix), sounds sweet and pulls like hell.

Paperwork is a bit of a headache, but I traded it in with the understanding that all that will be my baby - hence the ridiculous price.

Boat is VERY stable, nice bass/fly/lure boat, you can easily stand and cast. Could be a great light tackle freshwater bootjie too I think.

And then, of course, I think the PERFECT Katse bootjie to tow up and down those passes.

Just needs some TLC, but easy peasy to sort.
