Default Frontrunner Fridge Slide fitment problems

Be warned - The 40-52l fridge/cargo slide does not have enough clearance for a fridge door to open when fully extended. This item was fitted to a Frontrunner drawer system designed for a Toyota Landcruiser 76 wagon

Default Frontrunner Fridge Slide fitment problems

The Cargo Slide is fitted to the Drawer System with the Fridge mounted, there has to be enough clearance from the roof of the vehicle for the Fridge door to open. The fridge slide does not extend out far enough for the fridge door to open. Itís a simple mistake but renders the product useless for a Fridge. It can still be used for cargo. So in my opinion its cargo slide but definitely not a fridge slide.

Ah yes you might be right then perhaps that would be useful information in the marketing of this product. For Frontrunner to omit this information is misleading

As far as I know, fridge slides are fridge size specific and not vehicle specific?

Opt for a low profile fridge like one of these Snomaster fridges.

Do I understand you correctly that when you pull out the fridge on its slide and then try to open the fridge door, the roof stops the fridge door form opening completely?

Seems to me that the slide placement is the problem. Some pics would be good if you have.
Lusted for a Landy but the Pajero was sexier and bigger in the right departments, just like my Missus.

Vehicle and fridge dependent. I have two different fridges (Waeco and Engel) with no issues (even in my Fortuner).

I would hardly call that a problem. The slides are generic and very dependent on your vehicle layout. The user cannot just buy something without making sure it will work and then blame the manufacturer.

I foresaw the same problem when I measured my vehicle and overcame the problem by fitting a large 90l fridge slide for my 60l fridge which gave me about 4 inches of space at the back allowing the fridge to slide out further and thus clear the roof.

Did you give the fridge to Frontrunner when the fitment was done. If yes take back to them and get them to fix. If not then itís your problem.

I am sitting here in Cape Town. With the online presence Frontrunner has I have to rely on the information they provide. On a practical level it is too expensive to courier back the JHB.

I did consider the bigger tray but it is also much wider stealing lateral space. As much fridge fitted in the smaller tray I expected Frontrunner to have done enough R&D on this product.

I am sharing this useful info on this forum specifically with other Landcruiser 76 owners.
I am blaming Frontrunner for omitting information. It would not hurt to add that this product works with some fridges only in certain vehicles. Perhaps when everything is too generic then nothing works. At least test this product on some of the popular 4x4 models on the market.

Yes that is correct. The slide would have been fitted on a Frontrunner drawer system. The slide does not extend enough out of the vehicle for the Fridge lid to clear the roof of the Landcruiser76

That looks like a nice setup. I canít see from this pic that the Fridges extend out far enough for the lids to open completely. I see you also donít have the fridge I use - a National Luna
