Default Recommended stop-over between Mana Pools and Beitbridge?

    Dear Friends,
Which would be the best stop-over between Mana Pools towards Beitbridge -
    preferably not going via Harare?

    Any recommendations.
    Travelling end of March.

    Regards,
    Nick

You can turn right at Chinhoyi and take the Gadzema Rd to Chegutu then turn right again, overnighting at Antelope Park in Gweru to avoid Harare, but the road from Gweru via Chibi to the Beitbridge highway is a bit of a wreck. I avoid Beitbridge at all costs and use Plumtree, overnighting in Francistown, then down to Stockpoort/Parr's Halt. It adds about 300km to my trip, but avoids the stress of Beitbridge (and the Beitbridge highway) because the Plumtree to Mutare highway is mainly good, there's less traffic and the border is a doddle. There's also a border at Mpoengs, but the road is a bit graunched, and a new one that comes out somewhere just north of the Tuli Circle, but I haven't found it yet. I think it involves passing through Gwanda, but I'm not positive.
When you drive for work, you look for the good roads.
