Default Bushlapa Boskriek second hand value question

    Hi all Bushlapa owners
I am trying to decide between buying new or secondhand on the Boskriek, (or a competitive product not to be named here). The advice from BL in Centurion is that they drop about 10% per year, depending on mods. Does this figure seem ballpark, and are there any real pitfalls in buying second hand to look out for? As these vans dont come up much, its hard to know what a reasonable second hand price is.

The market will dictate the secondhand value. Scarce means higher resale. I specced my 2016 model vs a new one and new price would be over R340K.

The question is what a person would be willing to pay for an excellent condition 2014 to 2018 model with all the extras.

I bought a Miskruier second hand and that depreciation sounds about right - I paid a slight bit more.

On mine it had just been for a service before I bought it and they replaced the rubbers on most of the doors as well as the batteries.

Shoe, I bought my 2017 model for 250k (VAT Incl). Extras pushed it up to 280k

if the new one is 305k I would expect to be able to sell mine for at least 260k extras included

    Hmm, I paid R265k for a full-house 2017 model, and spent another R15k on a 300w solar panel and Ctek D250SA DC-DC charger.

I would hope to get R275k back in view of the new prices, mine now has just about everything.

From what I've seen when a friend was looking for one, 2013 odd go for around R220k and add around R20k per year. This was for Miskruiers but I'd guess fairly similar.

I picked up a barely used 2016 boskriek for 248K, they are around , just they move quickly at that price, only thing I added was a Geyser.

I've got an October 2018 full house boskriek that has never been used, believe it or not. Towed it from the showroom to Somerset West and that's it. Thinking of selling but won't get my money back so thought of keeping it till the price increase and then selling it for what I paid.....

I am on the same page as Gert here
Bought end of 2016 and paid R270k with all extras.

And wont sell mine for less than that
Also the increases in prices on new models keep the value of the second hand market high as well
So 10% drop per year seems a bit much for me taking the annual increases in newer models into account and the current demand

All caravans sell for pretty much what was originally paid for it when new. Caravans less than 2 years will probably take a knock because then it rather makes sense to buy new.

I paid about R365k for my Ratel 2 years ago, and that was without a fridge and the solar panels. I suspect I would get the same, if not more, if i sell it now without a fridge

Yes, I meant +-10% ‘depreciation’ for each year from current new price.

Extras include solar panel. inverter, travel blankets, side panels for bushwing, shower wing, extra battery, extra lighting, reflective covers for bed and awning, front aluminium protection plates etc. All adds up very quickly.
