    Default Towing Mabuasahube to Nossop

Thinking of going from Mabuasahube to Nossop via Matopi camps.
3 vehicles each pulling either caravan or 4x4 trailer.
Please advise if we should be concerned.
    With thanks.

I suggest that you drive around the park on the outside.

Can be done. Obviously you need to have a bit of 4x4 experience, but nothing major. It's just the last section before Nossob that has some dunes/sand that can cause trouble, but no real issue. Biggest NB is to be aware of oncoming traffic, especially over those dunes, as the timing that you will be there from Motopi, exactly coincides with people leaving Nossob, so be very careful around corners and dune crests, especially with a trailer as you need to gather more speed to get over. Rather send someone ahead on foot.

Deflate the trailer tyres also in the dunes sections.

    MckH

We are going there in 2weeks time and doing exactly that
Will leave Mabua via the Boso trail to Matopi and then after that on the KTP

Back the 4th somewhere can then give some feedback

We drove from Nossob to Mabua with two vehicles and two trailers in 2018 with absolutely no concerns. It is not a hazardous drive.

    Which month?

......but to say that road is not hazardous is wrong. It is however doable if care is taken as many have warned.

Have to agree with Lekhubu. Our biggest concern was the blind driving over the dunes, especially closer to Nossob. We did it in May last year with Disco 2 V8 towing an Echo 4. Fortunately from a timing point of view we reached the more hazardous part closer to Nossob later in the afternoon, thus potentially missing the early morning travellers from Nossob to Mabua.

AFAIK there are/were two roads - one for westward and one for eastward travel. Is towing allowed there now? I remember at first it wasn't. (Haven't used it in probably 15 years hence my info is way out of date)

The southern most route via Matopi is, and has always been, a two way route and one could always tow there.

The northern most route is only east to west (always have been) and technically no towing allowed but people do tow there.

"be aware of oncoming traffic, especially over those dunes"

I had a near miss on that road.
A Patrol with trailer didnt slow down when they saw me, the driver just put foot and ran me off the road into a bush.
Trailer missed my vehicle with two inches to spare.
Took me a while to get out.
    And longer to stop swearing.
