    Default Brake Fluid Recommendation

On two of my bikes, the rear brake reservoir is mounted directly next to the exhaust, and brake fluid degrades to a nice dark brown/black colour in a couple of months. Im getting a bit tired of flushing the systems a couple of times a year.

Its rated for Dot4. Should I try replacing with Dot5.1, or race/high temp Dot4? Id prefer to stick to Dot4, for no specific reason. Any recommendations on a brand and supplier in the Centurion area?

General local brand DOT3 & DOT4 brake fluid brands are about all made by one company. I would look for an imported super DOT 4 or DOT 4 plus. Failing that find a DOT 5.1 at a racing outlet.

Do not use DOT5 it is not compatible.

    Yes, no Dot5.

All the typical local stuff just degrades so quickly. I found some Loqui Moly Dot4 (I think it was Dot4 plus...) but Im not sure how good it is.
