I don't want to hurt your ego, but I really think we need to find other rims for your passion wagon.

I agree. I think it is just a matter if time. Will be Plastidioping them soon to see if that helps, but I think a set if new rims is a definate on the horizon.

I had a look at some secondhand Amarok rims yesterday. They seems like they might fit with the correct center hole, bolt pattern. Rim width is slightly more at 8J where I think the steelies on now is 7J? The off set is also slightly different but not much so it will probably fit without issues. I didn't realise it is this difficult to source propper fitting aftermarket rims for the Transporter! Uf you get the correct PCD then the load rating is insufficient or the offset out.

So what do you guys think? This is a mock fit on Shrek with a bigger tyre on the rim.

PS - will you look at that articulation!!

Then why bother with a mag. Paint the steel rim black. You can see about the same amount of detail from a black mag afterwards.
I for one find black mags the ugliest thing ever and the fastest way to make a car look cheap.

That mag looks very nice. Keep the steelies for spare wheels when going off-road

It is a long standing joke I have with the guys on the Pajero section, where I sprayed my Pajero rims black with Plastidip, then removed the black for a while and then redid it again. I also once jokingly said "real 4x4's have black rims" . I suppose it is the "inner tappit" in me

    Hey Cats,

Steel rims, whilst they might not be as nice to look at, are stronger and I recommend keeping them.

I put a larger tire on my existing rim (also upgraded the suspension) in order to get more ground clearance. I am happy with the improvements but the spare tire now only fits under the vehicle if it is deflated, so be careful about changing the rim / tire size.

How does the EDL (Electronic Diff Lock) work on these vehicles?

My understanding is that it is a rear difflock. Hence will be locking the two rear wheels to rotate at the same speed? Hence if I go into a smooth surface like a parking garage and switch the rer difflock on and do tight turning circles then the rear inner wheel should spin as it has to compensate for the shorter route? This is how my previous vehicles worked. By the way - is there a light that engages on the dash when the difflock is engaged? Is there a specific procedure to get it to engage like Neutral in gearbox or something like that? The manual is not very descriptive on this.

I have an argument with VW where I bought the vehicle where I say the difflock is NOT working and they say it is. I have taken it in now twice for this and I still think they have not fixed it. HELP please? Is it just me being stupid?

Somehow I dont think VW is actually used to people in 4motion busses actually taking it off road!

On the attached photo the difflock is "on", I think, as the switch is orange. No other lights apear on the actual dash. Is it really on? Testing it in above scenario gives no inner wheel spin, so I say it is off? But maybe I am doing it wrong?
