Default Jeep pulling out of SA?

Please can some jeep guys shed some light on the subject? I have been eyeing a Jeep GC 2017 CRD.

The Jeep dealerships in CT seem to be closing down? How will they honour the service plans etc?
Where will I service the vehicle?

Use the site to see if they give you options
Seems like there is quite a few Chrysler dealers servicing them

Thing is, most of the mechanics will open up their own place or go to independents.

You will be able to service the vehicle and most spares you can buy at Midas etc.

Point taken, but are you still going to get your service plan and maintenance plan/warranty through these " privateers " ?

    I think not...
No backing on a R800k + vehicle is scary if you ask me!

You can always take a trip to JHB when close to servicing time

    I do understand your point.

It will be a problem, but most people out of warrantee will go private.

Dealer might not be TOO busy.

Definitely not sir, it is starting to happen in Cape Town(Jeep removing themselves), and I live In Cape Town and I would like to be able to service in Cape Town.
Will you purchase a vehicle that has no backing in your area?

There is some consolidation happening, and remember that the existing contracts from the Chrysler/Jeep days are all coming to an end.

but I can't see them pulling out completely. You may have to wait a little bit for services at times, but I think you can safely purchase the vehicle.

Dis nie wat ek sÍ nie. Die gewese Jeep handelaar hanteer en dra steeds die verantwoordelikheid.

I'd asked a similar question a little while ago.
There were some interesting comments (some not so much ) and I also find it interesting to go back on opinions formulated 9 months ago and see how the situation evolved.

Why even bother with the Jeep. The writing is against the wall. Why not go for a brand with a good dealer network?

I sold my Jeep last year and was always happy with the local Jeep for my maintenance but I do completely understand your concern, a couple of year back Jeep did the same thing in Jozi, all cars had to be serviced in Sandton. It was a big issue and they where always over books and services seemed to take days. A mate of mine actually sold his Jeep because of that issue.

The real question really comes down too you. Do you feel comfortable spending that on a car brand that might have servicing issue? Don't get me wrong I really enjoyed my jeep but if I had any issues like that the answer would be on the wall so to speak.

    Good luck
