Default Trailer number plate light wiring

All the best for 2019 Forumites.
I need to take a boat trailer for roadworthy but need to add a number plate light before I go. The number plate light has 2 wires ( + and earth). Does anybody have a simple diagram to assist me to connect the number plate light to the existing (round truck style) tail light?
    Many thanks Mike

The earthwire can be attached to the trailer chassis somewhere close to where the light is. Take the + wire to the + wire of one of the tail lights.

Thanks Blackie. I thought as much but didn't realise it would be as simple as that.

You welcome. Just make sure the earth is done properly. I normally drill a small hole somewhere in the chassis, then sanding it a bit around the hole to get a clean steel look and then use a self-tap screw with a washer to fix it to the chassis.

If the trailer is galvanised I wouldn't drill a hole, rather just run the earth to the tail light too.

Do you really want to add a spot for rust to get its teeth in? Especially being a boat trailer

Best to run the neutral wire from the plug, as said previously.

The numbering is typically as follows :
