Default Looking for roof rack advice

So with three of us in the family now weíve decided to go the ground tent route.

I have my eye on the Oztent RV5 but due to itís folded up size it wonít fot on in the back of the double-cab. So to transport it Iíll need to fit a roof rack on the Alu-Cab canopy.

Iíve never looked at looked at roof racks before but was surprised at how expensive they are. For fitting a Frontrunner on the canopy after adding rails youíre looking at minimum R10k.

Does anyone have any other advice on options for a canopy roofracks or will I just have to fork out the cash for one?

25mm alu square tubing, connect-it connectors and DIY one yourself, will probably not be more than R1.5K.

If you are just going to have the tent on there ( not sure what it weighs) why not add two ( or three) load bars to the top of the canopy?

Thanks for the replies. Those load bars seem the way to go.

Just basically the tent and mabe a large gazebo. Rest of the gear will go in the back.

The Thule bars cost me R4500 odd. No need to drill into my roof, no need to remove the roof liner, no issues up to now whatsoever.

I carry an Eezi Awn 1.2 Roof top tent and Tento Bundu Canopy on the Everest and thus far still as solid as day one.

Never had to tighten or adjust in the past 4 trips. I am not serious off-roading but traveled all kinds of roads. Perfect for my needs.
Takes about 5 minutes to remove, if that, and same to install.

My load weight is about 56-60kg. I do not need more.
