Here is the thread I referred to and also what I did after the mechanical part flew apart and it took some puzzling to get it together again.

Something isn't working well here.
Let me try again. Both files should upload. Touareg rear door trim.pdfTouareg rear door window replacement.pdf
Very important to count the amount t of turns you take to undo the screw of the door handle. I think the number is 12.
Otherwise the stupid retaining ring comes loose and you have to take the holder apart to reinstall it propper. Also there is no information on the net to show you how it's done.
Remember to set that spring in there to maintain propper retention before you install the lock...
Do watch the video from Humble Mechanic.

Look at this one too.
If you have any other questions just ask.

Ps.
You don't need to remove the window at all.
You only need to remove the window and frame as one unit.
The door sits seperate from them.
It is indeed a different design and quite ingenious I might add.

This is one job I hate so much I'd rather take an engine out. Those doors locks, clips and cable affairs are just so finicky and then you end up with a deadlocked door you can't open. The whole affair just to get the handle / lock out is completely unclear on the manuals. then you also think you need to drill rivits out but trust me you don't really. If you get to that point and can't get it open you have missed something.
Do DO have to drill ONE rivit out though to actually get the lock out of the door. There is a cable holder that you need to get out that is rivited in.
Put about 4 hours aside for this. My first time took like 2 hours just to get to the inside of the door.

This is why my brother does all the actual work (he has a better temperament for this kind of thing, than I do) I become the spanner boy / general helperIt is safer that way for everyone involved.
Our first estimate was 3hrs, so will amend accordingly.
I am beginning to think maybe we should just leave it be....lol![]()

So this past weekend, took the van out for it's first long drive out to Darling. We were spectating at the first round of the WP 2019 Rally Championship in and around Darling. The TReg is an effortless cruiser on the open road and a comfortable place to be while doing so. Overall consumption to Darling was around 14.7L/100km. First 2 spectator points was close to the road and parked the van on the farmers land. Spectated and did breakfast coffee.
Spent hour or two walking around Darling, buying lots of om, nom nom's from the various stores. Then off to next....
Next few spectator points allowed me to use the van offroad for the first time. This entailed some hectically corrugated gravel roads, I suppose it did OK. I think air suspension would have gave a less rattled ride. Also not sure, some cowboys we driving flatout over the corrugations, I took it slower; not sure if faster is better? Also did some soft sand and gravel which was fun at speed.
Consumption on the way back home was 13.8L/100km
Here it is parked in the middle of a farmers land:
Then this happened on Sunday:
On Sunday, I used the van to collect a Server Cabinet I bought off Gumtree......man, love the cargo capacity of this thing. Folding down seats and stuff makes it so easy.
I am surprised that I am enjoying this van as much as I am, who would have thought.....

On corrigated roads, anything under 90 will rattle your teeth.
I can confirm this.........I have always only driven these types of road with my road car (which HAD to drive slow) so, hence drove the van the same. Clearly this was wrong....... will try the more speed approach end of the month when we're spectating at the National in the Caledon / Klipdale area. Thanks for the headsup 8)

Corrugations - what are those?
Shift the air suspension to 'Comfort' & 'Off Road' and go!
On the way to the farm where Marius lives and works, there is a section of corrugated gravel.
Saw it, but did not really notice it, until I drove it with my sister's Peugeot 3008 (which is not bad, by the way)!
Whoa! The car wanted to 'dance' off the road!

The Treg/Q7 platform is brilliant on corrugated road at speed. Recently drove a stretch of dirt road with the people following behind in their Jazz, when we arrived at the destination I commented on how good the road was while they were worried the Jazz would shake apart
