There were a few posts on here that mentioned petty theft on a regular basis. No personal experience
    Found it:

A bit further up the coast just north of Lamberts Bay, there's Rooiduin, but only with 2 longdrops, and you'd need a 4x4 to get to the campsite. Just be warned, there are NO facilities, so you'd have to be self-sufficient with everything. Also, no shade, you basically camp on the beach. But it is heaven...

Namakwa park is also great and cheap. We stayed at Delwers camp. There is fresh water to shower( use your own shower) and a neat long drop for every 2 sites. Click image for larger version.

Sadly we had our car emptied during the night in October. It became apparent that this was not an isolated experience. The thieves come over the dunes from a farm entrance.

just to make us feel hard done by, the ‘insurance’ company has refused to accept any claim on the basis that the vehicle was unattended, and our stuff was not in a locked glovebox or boot! We were in our tent on the trailer within 2m of the car, and what SUV even has a separate boot?

No surprise that the ‘insurer’ is apparently going out of business mid-Feb!!!

    Will definitely be at Tietiesbaai.
    Rooiduin is safe.

Last year I drove to Tietiesbaai one morning and there were about 10 groups of campers. They were waiting on the police to arrive as a LOT of them had been robbed. This was saturday morning and most of them were packing up.
I warned a friend who ignored the warning and he lost a lot of camping equipment.
I would not even drive there again for a look.

One of the best road trips I ever did was along the West coast, and TittiesBaai was awesome.
Met an Afrikaans family camping there. They were local dairy farmers from the area, and my lady friend and I were invited to join them for lunch.
The tables were groaning under the weight of home cooked food, bread baked on the fire, eats and treats.
And perhaps 10 or 15 people were camping there, and not 1 incidence of theft nor trouble.....

But I can tell you a horror story of camping at Pennington (Kzn) from 20 years ago.
So there has always been opportunistic theft and scounderals, and this can happen anywhere, East coast, West coast, Kuruman, Louie Trichardt, ect
Just be vigilant, keep your car locked, and don't leave valubles lying around in plain sight.

    Great fishing at TittiesBaai.
I met some crazy people.... They made me their leader.

That was probably ages ago! You do not know the Tietiesbaai of today - take good advice and stay far far away.

Just camped at Tietties from 7th Dec till 22nd Dec 2018 with no issues.
As with any other place in SA, it is advised to keep suff out of site and locked away.
