    Default Import beer limit

    Hi guys,

    Hope someone can help.

We are a group leaving on Saturday for Namibia. We will be doing a four week trip mostly in the deserts. What is the maximum limit of beer allowed. Google finds everything els (wine, spirits) except beer.

    Thanks

Tafel Lager and a few other Namibian beers are available in SA. Buy a few and taste them; I find Tafel very pleasant, they are on promotion at Makro quite often

Travelling in Africa can often be very tough but is always extremely rewarding.

Namibian lagers are way better than SAB shite. Your head and your liver will agree.

Windhoek is probably available at every little shop you find.

You can buy beer at any Supermarket. Not just Liquor shops like SA. So it is basically impossible to run out of beer in NAM.

Strange thing about Seffrickens: we travel to see other places yet refuse to drink their beer...........

I've known people to smuggle SAB into Moz, when Moz has some excellent beers and in fact one of the best dark lagers available commercially.

Produced by SAB - I was one of them, I used to smuggle Castle as the Castle produced there tasted like crap and I needed a change from all the 2M getting poured down my throat!!

    Laurentina is still independent AFAIK

As for Castle : it always tastes like reconstituted cow urine

Each to their own I suppose, all mass produced beer is pretty much the same to me - find one you like and drink it, I can't stand Heineken and mates think I am mad, bought a dozen Soweto Gold last night and was hugely disappointed at what Heineken have done with the recipe, its just another beer now.. almost tastes like Lion, I like Stella but its a bit expensive and would buy Estrella if I could, I prefer some over the others but have really have no worries drinking one or two of anything....Castle tank beer is very nice

    EDIT: Laurintina is still SAB

    Each to their own...

I like to drink the local beers wherever I travel. So far so good. Even South-East Asia delivers some great ones

That being said, a varisty friend of mine works at SAB. Het gets 5 cases of beer a month for free. I know the poor oke gets SAB products. But hey, cannot do anything about it....

But, if you get it for free you take it with you on holiday, so I do not know OP's reason for taking beer into Nam, but there are perfectly good reasons to take beer into another country.

My advise would however be not to buy in ZAF and take into Nam. But if you have a few cases already, no reason you cannot take them into Nam.
