Default Maintenance / General Care of Camping Fridge Freezer?

    Hi

I am a complete newb to camping gear. I purchased a 35l snomaster/camp master fridge freezer - What is the general care/usage of these units outside of camping times. I.e. do you keep it plugged in at home fulltime? if not do you need to take car in terms of don't store on its side etc? any tips from the experienced guys..

I also got mine only recently, used twice now.
Thus far I just clean mine out (and leave kitchen roll inside to soak up moisture) and leave the door a little open. I intend to use mine about every two months or so.

okay cool thanks, so you leave it unplugged..I was thinking of leaving it in use in the garage with like my ice packs in it (currently taking space in my household freezer) when not it use.

apparently the unit comes with 3 year warranty and 7 year on compressor.

There are many discussions around this on the forum and the panel is split.

Lots of guys run them all the time and even as bar fridges. Others switch them off. I have an NL 40 that lives in my Pajero and gets switched on when we go shopping, freezer and cold goods goes in the fridge. Means I can go for a coffee and not worry about the food.

    It really is personal preference.
Lusted for a Landy but the Pajero was sexier and bigger in the right departments, just like my Missus.

Remember these fridges are NOT frost free when used as a freezer. You will have an ice build up over time.

Ahh food for thought. I wanted to you it to store ice packs as we only have one fridge in the house currently.

Please read the owners manual that came with your new Snomaster. It will resolve the mystery

They make excellent bar fridges when not in camping mode.

Sorry for the delay: "Note: It is advisable to run your unit regularly, this will prolong the life of the cooling system" How often is regular? How long is a piece of string?
Mine is permanently on and filled about 50% (no reason not to be at 100%) and I store my ice packs in it. Doing this prevents rapid/large temp fluctuations and thus continuous switching.
